saturday

[Saturday begins much like Friday, with no further answers provided, and no means of escape. However, at 3 PM on Saturday, the old grandfather clock in the foyer begins to chime. From the foyer, the ballroom doors stand open, and the room is bright with sunshine. Soft, dreamy music plays from a radio inside.

Inside the ballroom, what seems to be a magnificent party is laid out. There is a buffet table laden with finger foods - vegetables and dips, finger sandwiches, pastries, fruit, and cheeses. Next to the table are glasses filled with wine, champagne, or juice. Most of the room is empty, with room to stand and talk, although towards the windows looking out on the courtyard are six tables with five place settings each, set for a larger meal.

And then there's a seventh table, at the back of the room, on which are thirty small notebooks. Inside, the notebooks appear to be some sort of album, with each page containing a picture of and information about your fellow guests.

After everyone has filed in, the doors shut and lock behind the final guest; the doors to the courtyard close as well. You'll have some time to talk amongst yourself, for it will be another hour of dining before anyone else appears]

This is an open mingle log for the welcome feast. Please tag one another. There will be NPC interaction in the post later in the day.

[Rin grins brightly, simply eating up the awe and praise. She doesn't mind that she's being touched, either. But don't mind if she takes that opportunity to plug herself a bit.]

Yeah, I'm pretty amazing! But if you want to give credit where it's due, I was made by a company called Crypton Future Media. As a robot, my songs are crowd sourced, so if your friend Minx would be interested in working with me I'd be happy to meet her! ♪

[she smiles and gives her a friendly shoulder pat as she says this, sort of implying that Rapture could do the same]

She isn't staying here, but she builds her own synthesizers. She would love to know how you work. [ Rapture doesn't really realize how creepy that sounds, but... it's technology. It's not meant to be spoken to like a human. ] If Stinger Sound had an act like you... we'd have an edge over everyone! It would take a wrecking ball to knock us down from the charts.

What do you mean by 'crowd sourced' though?

Yeah, well, I'd like to keep my parts inside me if it's all the same!

[it was a bit creepy, yes. She speaks in a joking tone, but believe her, this is no joke.]

It bascially means anyone who pays for the right to can write songs with me. That song I just sang for you, "Black Rebel", was written by a producer called Minus. I have an enormous database of songs! ♪

[ This really is blowing her mind. Without a contract involved, it would mean not having to worry about them ever leaving in the first place. Though, it would leave the option open for Starlight Music to use it... still. The Holograms are hardly worth her time, especially when Jem is involved.

It's so hard for her to fully believe, but with the way technology is changing and seeing how Minx handles her own synthesizers, she's smart enough to see this outcome being possible. ]

What about actual musicians though? I mean... human ones. They won't disappear, will they?

[Wow, deep question. Rin scratches her head a bit at it. Admiration is one thing. The assumption that her talent could wipe out all others is... kind of an awesome compliment, not gonna lie, but it's not one that she understands. It doesn't make a lot of sense.]

Umm...

Well, that's not up to me, but it's not what I would want! I don't think it would really happen, either. ♪

It's all so science-fiction... [ It's pretty clear Rapture's wrapped up in the awesome fantasy of a robot singing alongside the Stingers or Misfits — preferably the former. Of all the times to run into something like this with no way to utilize it... ]

I don't think it would be possible to wipe out musical artists completely either. There are some things you can't really get without a human maneuvering it, like sound and special effects mixing together on stage. Or that strong bond with your bandmates.
