murder manor week zero

saturday

[Saturday begins much like Friday, with no further answers provided, and no means of escape. However, at 3 PM on Saturday, the old grandfather clock in the foyer begins to chime. From the foyer, the ballroom doors stand open, and the room is bright with sunshine. Soft, dreamy music plays from a radio inside.

Inside the ballroom, what seems to be a magnificent party is laid out. There is a buffet table laden with finger foods - vegetables and dips, finger sandwiches, pastries, fruit, and cheeses. Next to the table are glasses filled with wine, champagne, or juice. Most of the room is empty, with room to stand and talk, although towards the windows looking out on the courtyard are six tables with five place settings each, set for a larger meal.

And then there's a seventh table, at the back of the room, on which are thirty small notebooks. Inside, the notebooks appear to be some sort of album, with each page containing a picture of and information about your fellow guests.

After everyone has filed in, the doors shut and lock behind the final guest; the doors to the courtyard close as well. You'll have some time to talk amongst yourself, for it will be another hour of dining before anyone else appears]

This is an open mingle log for the welcome feast. Please tag one another. There will be NPC interaction in the post later in the day.

A little. [He's never told anyone about his scars, not one person, and now twenty-nine other people he's never met know.] I don't see how any of this is relevant, anyway.
obsideo: (✖ sleuth)

It's just creepy. I hope there's no reason they want us to know this stuff.

(Wait, this guy...this was one of the countries, wasn't it? Now that's kind of weird. But maybe he doesn't want her to know? She can't help but feel curious.)
vytis: (I don't know what hurt you)

[personal profile] vytis 2013-09-21 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
They could just be showing off how much they know about all of us. It's kind of sinister, though. [He pauses.] Not that the kidnapping itself isn't sinister.
obsideo: (✖ can't move on)

[personal profile] obsideo 2013-09-21 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. It's just the type of info...I don't know. I've got a bad feeling about what's next.

(Curiosity is struggling against trying not to be rude. So finally she just decides to introduce herself.)

I'm Marlow.
vytis: (I just want to live simple and free)

[personal profile] vytis 2013-09-21 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm Lithuania. Although the circumstances could be--a lot better, it's nice to meet you.

[He manages a smile, at least.]
obsideo: (✖ we're all playing to win)

[personal profile] obsideo 2013-09-21 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey.

(She smiles back.)

Is it weird if I ask what's up with the named-after-country thing?
vytis: (ambitions like ribbons worn bright)

[personal profile] vytis 2013-09-21 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
[Lithuania smiles a little more widely.] No, it's not weird. I'm Lithuania, as in the nation. Each nation has someone like me--a personification, I suppose. We live as long as our countries do.
obsideo: (✖ standing before you)

(Marlow whistles a little at that.)

No offense, but that sounds kind of crazy. Still, this whole situation is crazy, so maybe I'll buy it.
vytis: (I don't know what hurt you)

[personal profile] vytis 2013-09-22 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I know it can be pretty difficult to swallow. If I had my things, I might have more proof--ID and that sort of thing--but... Well, as you said, this situation is hardly normal.
obsideo: (✖ a smile)

[personal profile] obsideo 2013-09-23 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
That's okay, I won't make you prove it. I guess I can get hung up on things too much.

(She smiles.)

I guess I don't know that much about your country, either. Sorry. Geography's not really my subject. But whoever brought us here must be really powerful if they can kidnap a whole country.
