murder manor week zero

friday

[You wake in an unfamiliar bedroom, with no memory of how you came to be there and a sensation that something you once had is gone. The room you're in is luxurious and comfortable, but there is a musty feeling of disuse and decay in the air. Still, you've provided with new wardrobe perfectly tailored for you, a key ring that will unlock your bedroom door, so surely you're welcome to explore the manor?

Have a look around and make yourselves at home. You'll soon find you're not alone, but if any among you knows the secrets of this place, they aren't speaking.]

This is an open mingle log for arrival at the manor. Please put your character's name, location, and the time in the header of their comments. Characters are welcome to explore the manor and get to know one another; nothing else will be revealed to them today.

[Having thoroughly explored every room he could access inside the mansion, Stiles has now made his way outside. The first thing he does is head to the gates, reaching out towards the bars and then jerking his hand back with a hiss as it shocks him.]

...okaaaaaay, we have now officially gone from weird to crazy horror flick where there's probably a serial killer waiting to tear us all into bits during the night. Again.

[He rubs the back of his head, muttering nervously to himself.]

I mean granted, freaky 1920's mansion doesn't exactly give off the whole supernatural painful death vibe, so maybe things won't be that bad? Maybe we're just in some sort of reenactment of The Great Gatsby. Nothing horrible happens in that book, right? No murders, just parties? Why didn't I finish that book when I had the chance?

[ Yeah, don't look at her. Minatsuki hasn't been to school since seventh grade and probably has never heard of The Great Gatsby anyway. ]

Okay. Let me just tell ya: if you start fuckin' freaking out all over the place now, it's gonna take a bite out of your ass later.
humanic: (Default)

[personal profile] humanic 2013-09-20 06:46 am (UTC)(link)
[He glances over at her and snorts.]

Freaking out? Trust me, this isn't me freaking out. You'll know when I'm freaking out - I'll be the guy huddled in the corner breathing into a paper bag over there. All things considered, this is actually a pretty damn good day for me.

[ She purses her lips together, frowning in a way that indicates that she forgot her sense of humor at home. ]

I'm sure it ain't gonna get that bad.
humanic: (unsure)

[personal profile] humanic 2013-09-21 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
[He gives a theatrical wince and groans.]

Oh god, why did you have to say that? Haven't you seen any horror movie ever? Now there really is going to be something horrible appearing any moment now. Like right...now! [whirls his head around to glance over his shoulder at absolutely nothing]

...or in a few minutes, you know.

[Since Stiles has been talking to himself about books for about minute, Beat just came out too late to notice him getting shocked.

So maybe he should help a bro out and stop him from running headlong at it. Then again, watching a big dumb guy in a top hat getting zapped might be the funniest thing he'll see all day. What'll it be?]
humanic: (surprised)

[personal profile] humanic 2013-09-20 06:48 am (UTC)(link)
[Sadly, Stiles isn't a big enough jerk to let some poor guy he doesn't know electrocute himself. Maybe if it was Jackson.]

Whoa, hey, dude! Bad idea! Really bad idea! [He tries to grab for Beat's arm, trips over his own feet, and bring them both down into a pile of limbs onto the ground.]
respecting: (I'm not here to be perfect)

[personal profile] respecting 2013-09-20 07:05 am (UTC)(link)
[Despite a Reaper's capability to be as thus, Beat's still not even used to being visible to other people, so the interference takes him completely by surprise.]

Huh-- BWAAAAH! [and then he's hitting the ground like a sack of potatoes, letting out an 'oof' when he's landed on.]

Whatchu do that for!? [He'll just try to wiggle out... though it's harder to move in these stupid fancy clothes.]
humanic: (unsure)

[personal profile] humanic 2013-09-21 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
[he flails around more and manages to roll off the guy]

Uh, if you want your entire body to be electrocuted, be my guest. Otherwise? Gate full of ouchie is not something you wanna run into, trust me on that.

[Alice has come outside after examining the inside of the building and happens to be approaching the area when she hears the voice of a stranger. A young man? The comment about the Great Gatsby however gets a small snerk out of her and she slowly approaches him.]

I hate to spoil a good book for you, but people are murdered in The Great Gatsby. But really, try not to think about that of all things right now.
humanic: (shrug)

[personal profile] humanic 2013-09-21 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
[winces] Oh, good. No wonder I failed that English test then.

I can't help it. It's like a curse. If something terrible doesn't happen soon, my entire worldview may just be shattered.
allice: sprite ((hmm) Another chance she takes)

[personal profile] allice 2013-09-21 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
Well try not to bring the rest of us into your misery. I would like to leave here relatively unharmed if I can manage it.
humanic: (smile)

[personal profile] humanic 2013-09-21 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
[He gives her a cheeky grin.] See, that's what makes me so great. My job's to think of all the worst things that could possibly happen to us so everyone else can get on with their optimism.

[so someone else had the same idea. A little reassuring, she supposed, though the insane babbling is over her head]

You can't get out?

[an evidently Russian woman evidently dressed for cross-country has silently walked up behind you; hi]
humanic: (unsure)

[personal profile] humanic 2013-09-21 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
[He glances over at her.]

Seeing as how being electrocuted is not high on my things to do list, no. As if being randomly abducted into some bizarre twenties mansion without any clothes wasn't ominous enough.
mostlymarried: (yup)

[personal profile] mostlymarried 2013-09-21 11:08 am (UTC)(link)
It's not my problem. I'm not getting involved. [electrocuted? Matches what the man in the kitchen talked about. Well, this is what the shovel is for...

without much preamble, Belarus simply whacks the metal head of the spade against the bars. Nodding to herself when things spark as expected, she simply moves back a few paces and starts to dig.]

humanic: (ugh)

[personal profile] humanic 2013-09-21 06:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, thing about being kidnapped? Kinda forces you to already be involved. I mean if you think you can get out of here alone, go for it, I'm just saying I doubt whatever nefarious force that can manage to drag some two dozen people into a mansion will make it that easy to leave.

[He watches her dig interestedly.] Huh. Think that will really work?

(Marlow is still exploring, trying to process as many details as she can with her quick mind. She definitely notices the shock. She expected something like that, but it's good to see it in action. She also notices the boy her age. He's cute, but maybe not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Either way, she doesn't have time to worry about guys. There's a mystery to solve.)

Not exactly. But I'm guessing this particular death trap mansion is less Fitzgerald and more Christie.
humanic: (Default)

[personal profile] humanic 2013-09-21 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
[excuse you Stiles is definitely the sharpest corkscrew in the drawer]

See, that I'd be more familiar with. Though I'm hoping it'll be something simple like The Case of The Missing Sandwich In Which There Are No Corpses At All.
obsideo: (✖ sarcasm)

[personal profile] obsideo 2013-09-21 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
That would probably be the ideal situation, yeah. Though the electric fence begins to seem a bit extreme.

(She smiles, though. It's nice to at least be able to make small talk with another mystery fan, even in this creepy situation.)

Hey. I'm Marlow.
humanic: (smile)

[personal profile] humanic 2013-09-21 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe they're just really determined about that sandwich.

[He holds out a hand.] Stiles Stilinski.

That's quite an imagination you have!

[personal profile] humanic 2013-09-21 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
[He snorts.]

You have no idea how badly I wish these things were just in my imagination. Life was so much easier back in the days when everyone just thought I was crazy.

[personal profile] pasodoble 2013-09-22 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
( Well that sounds like... a rather personal problem. )

... Have you tried to imagine more pleasant thoughts? They might come true!
humanic: (oh yeah?)

[personal profile] humanic 2013-09-22 06:02 am (UTC)(link)
Does imagining that I'm going to survive every day I wake up count? Because that's the only thing that's been working for me so far. [Stiles is normally not this cynical, but he is also normally not kidnapped without any warning and whisked away to some mansion full of strangers that he can't leave.]
