The room you're in is luxurious and comfortable, but there is a musty feeling of disuse and decay in the air. Still, you've provided with new wardrobe perfectly tailored for you, a key ring that will unlock your bedroom door, so surely you're welcome to explore the manor?

Have a look around and make yourselves at home. You'll soon find you're not alone, but if any among you knows the secrets of this place, they aren't speaking.]

[Right, her sentence was an obvious social cue to give his name. That would be really great for someone capable of reading obvious social cues. Instead, he's just gazing into the distance, muttering to himself.]

Hm, hm...a fine point...a fine point indeed...

[What's a human social cue? Is it something you play Earth Billiards with?

She actually turns her head momentarily in an attempt to follow his gaze, wondering if someone has come to join them, but sees nothing particular and turns back slowly, a soft flicker over her body.]

...do you think we're on Earth, here. You'd know better than I would.

I have no interest in that question. This dimension shares attributes with one iteration of that planet, perhaps, yet so do worlds upon worlds. There is no telling.

[Well that is an interesting answer. Kan's eyebrows rise with thought.]

I guess there isn't.

[Some silence. She should offer her name... but... does she want to give him that power... does she...]

It's impossible that we could converge by pure chance, though... just because a purpose hasn't revealed itself yet doesn't mean it won't in future.

The future where our fate is revealed to us is one we will create.

[He looks serious about this, and pulls his scarf up to cover his mouth.]

We must seek the other residents and from each draw out truths. It may be that our captor walks among us.

[Our captor - at first she hears Captor like the not entirely common ochre caste's last name, then hardens, her skin sharpening into sparkles, as she processes the implication and agrees with a nod. Even if his first sentence is somewhat empty when analyzed for meaning, he has a very valid point in her view about the necessary course of action.]

In that case we should part ways and compare notes once we've surveyed this entire hive. I don't know how far you've gotten but there's at least one entire floor I haven't seen at all.

I agree with your assessment. I have made study of this floor, but have not ventured on. However, the breakfast hour draws near, and my grim companions will grow irritable should they fail to receive timely sustenance. Therefore I will go in search of supplies. I wish you well on your own journey.

[Indeed, though his hamsters are still sleeping in his scarf, they will want to be fed soon. He's less troubled by his own hunger, but when they're hungry they're likely to start fighting with one another.]
