[At 9 AM precisely, the old grandfather clock chimes once again, and the doors to the drawing room are opened. They will remain open until everyone has come inside, after which they will shut behind them. It is not possible to leave on your own, although perhaps if you have a specific purpose the hostess will allow you to go, as long as you are accompanied by a partner.

The room is set up comfortably, with several tables by the fireplace set out to assist with the trial. The Hostess will also remain in a seat near the fireplace, next to the scales on the mantle. At lunch, the doors will open to bring in a large meal on an automatically rolling buffet, and at 3 PM, tea and finger sandwiches will be served. You'll be able to enjoy the trial in comfort, of course, but the information cards set out on tables will not allow you to forget your true purpose here.

At 7 PM, the trial will adjourn for the day. Players will be escorted by the Hostess to the ballroom, where dinner and wine will be served until 10 PM, at which point players will be required to return to their wings in groups with their wingmates and will be locked in their bedrooms until 8:30 AM the following morning.]

[Kaoru looks momentarily distracted by the flashlight since !! future technology, but quickly refocuses on the task at hand with a nod.]

Very well. [AND ONWARD back to the dining room for the second time. Kaoru won't waste any time in pressing the call button to open the doors once they arrive at the elevator, glancing back toward Yuzu.]

If you would be able to help me back out, I will descend. [that way Yuzu will at least be spared having to stand in a (hopefully) dried puddle of blood...]

[the smell is disturbing her enough; combine that with imagination and it's probably not actually as bad as Yuzu currently thinks it is. Either way, she swallows and nods.]

[she flicks the flashlight on and again and hands it over]

Should we see if we can hold the door open with a chair or something?

Thank you, Miss Aihara. [a solemn nod as the flashlight is accepted.]

Ah— yes, that would be wise. There was talk of chairs potentially being used to prop open the elevator doors earlier. Would you be willing to test that out while I search?

Yes. [oh god she doesn't want to think about what's down there except it's a murder investigation so that's the point don't think, think, no -oh god let's just go get a chair from the dining room-]

[POOR YUZU... Kaoru stares after her with concern for a second but after being reassured that she isn't going to pass out or anything, TIME TO INVESTIGATE.

since the sword has already been retrieved and the drop between the first floor and elevator roof had been figured out then, Kaoru doesn't have much trouble lowering down onto the roof this time. Yuzu will hear a soft thud from the landing, and then Kaoru flicks the flashlight on in order to inspect the puddle of blood and see if there are any traces leading up the surrounding walls.]

[There's nothing else other than blood down there. There also doesn't seem to be any on the walls.]
