[Kaoru recognizes her from the first day in this manor and doesn't hesitate to approach. gardens are soothing in a way; the sight of a flower chain, on the other hand, is enough to bring about a smile.]

A flower crown, miss?

[deflower]

[ She gives a start, looking over her shoulder. She seems somewhat embarrassed. ] Ah! Shit! I was just... yeah.

[souredsweet]

[MINATSUKI oh no that's endearing... Kaoru politely stifles a laugh.]

May I have a look? I've always had a fondness for flower crowns.

[deflower]

[ She holds it up; it's rather well made, a skilled interlocking of various flowers. ] I've had a lot of time to develop useless hobbies.

[souredsweet]

I do not think it a useless hobby to have. It is a beautiful thing that other people can enjoy - that is good in and of itself. [just gonna SIT DOWN TOO hope you don't mind the impromptu company...]

I hope you do not mind if I join you.

[deflower]

[ OKAY WELL HI. Minatsuki feels awkward. She isn't used to female(?!) company, much less company at all. ]

Eheh... sure. We can pluck the whole garden dry.

[souredsweet]

[it's okay Kaoru isn't used to much company either... but there will be Politeness Abound for what it's worth.]

It would not be a bad use of these flowers or of our time, I believe. [gonna pick a few and start working on a chain, too! Minatsuki has all the talent between the two of them when it comes to that though whoops, this chain will quickly shape up to be kind of lumpy and not even half as intricate.]

[deflower]

...D'ya want some help with that?

[ She's sort of surprised. To her, Kaoru looks like the delicate kind of girl who probably spends all of her time learning tea ceremony and flower arranging, but her work says otherwise. ]

[souredsweet]

[embarrassing... but Kaoru won't turn down the offer, even if it's with a little reluctance.]

...If you don't mind. [holds out one end! the lumpier end.] It has been a long time since I've been able to make anything like this.

[deflower]

I'm a pretty bad teacher... But it's like this. [ She begins loosening the knot. ] Just think of it as braiding hair. If you take two stems in each hand... you begin crossing them over and under... like you would if you were putting in a braid. And if you get to the bottom of the stem, you slide in a new flower. Like this, see?

[souredsweet]

[the movements are studied and repeated on the end of the chain that Kaoru still holds. it's slow-going, but at least it doesn't look so wonky the second time around.]

...You don't seem a bad teacher to me. Though I'm afraid I do not have much experience in braiding hair myself, I have seen it done enough times, and watching you is very helpful.

[deflower]

Is your hair as short in the back as it is in the front? I used to keep mine long, but I was made to cut it. [ She pauses, remembering Kaoru's information card, and how it had made her sound like she was from quite a long time ago. ] ...Do you have servants or something, ones that do your hair for you? Like, I don't mean to offend ya or anything, but you got that kind of high-class air.

[souredsweet]

Oh? That's a shame... Your hair suits you well, but I would imagine that long hair also looks lovely on you. [to answer her question, though, a brief nod follows - enough to show that there is actually quite a lot of hair, neatly tucked up into a simple bun.]

Sadly, this is all that I can manage on my own. The clan that I come from is not as high-statused as some, but I had help with my hair when it was necessary. [a brief smile follows, though there's something rueful in it.] I do not find it offensive. Status means little here, one way or another.

[deflower]

[ She tilts her head. ] A clan, huh? Are you royalty? Seems like there's a lot of 'em here...

[souredsweet]

[that has Kaoru laughing, though it's stifled quickly.]

Oh, my, no - not at all. I apologize if I have left you with such an incorrect impression... My clan is just a branch clan and it is not greatly important.
