[Well. Susan was familiar enough with those. Just not in this way.]
But how on earth can so many subtleties as a country be condensed into one form? It isn't as if it's a single concept; there's much to much to consider.

[You are looking for logic with people-nations Susan, you will find none.]
It's hard to explain, we really ...just are. I just do my best to represent my people and to help them. I'm connected to them and the land.

I expect if Ankh-Morpork had a representation, it would be oozing sewer sludge, but perhaps your cities are much nicer.

No. Not really. I mean, I suppose some stereotypes might be like me. But there's so many of them, most of them negative and they change over the centuries. I've more or less always looked like this....well younger of course in the past...but my appearance has stayed the same whether my people are living in small villages or sprawling cities.
I've always thought of it more as being someone who watches over them. Like a parent.

And how, exactly, did you come into being? The moment ten or twenty odd people first started settling on your land? ...And what happens if your borders are redefined? Do you lose a lot of weight?

[She opens her mouth going to say more but pauses. She remembers the chaos of the mongols but after that...]
...I'm sorry I don't...remember....
[She tries again.]
I think I'm missing some time.... but later I was taken over and I had to live at my brothers house for a very long time, before I was able to get my independence again.
I'm sorry, I'm not explaining this very well am I?

[Susan stops squinting.]
It seems you've run up into the same thing I noticed earlier, in any case. I'm inclined to believe you're telling the truth because of what's written on your card, but it's all rather... fantastic.
