Yes, sir. [But her eyes linger hungrily on the book, as if envying the fact he can read it, and she cannot, before she tears her gaze away.]

( Hm? What is she looking at? Oh... he hadn't realized that something was upsetting her. And he still isn't sure, either, but he'll set the book down beside him. )

What language can you read?

German. [But everything here in German is philosophy and she's not going to admit to enjoying that.]

( German. A language Spain knew well enough, even if he was a little rusty these days. )

Have you found anything here in German or... ( Well, she said she could only read a few earlier so he supposes not. ) How unfortunate... I haven't had to read anything in a long time but there are some good stories from there.
