[Romani sounds made up to Kaoru!! but nothing is said of it, even though there's mild hesitance before a shallow but apologetic bow is offered.]

I'm afraid I don't have anything to give you...

Then I cannot offer you my information! Unless... that is, you accept that you will return a favor for me when I ask for it. Otherwise, there will be an energy imbalance and it will cause a disaster.

Oh, my... An energy imbalance would be the last thing I want to cause. Still, I am not so certain that a favor would be enough in return for information. I do not have many talents, I'm afraid.

We'll figure something out. [ She smiles sweetly and pauses, knowing that it must be under certain circumstances and clauses to fully be utilized. ] All I ask is that, if I require something to be done that does require your talents, then you will offer to do as such. Asking you to "murder" someone here won't be one of them either.

Agreeing to such a contract will open to you as much information as my heart, body, and soul is willing to give.

[Kaoru blanches a little at that - murder, goodness! - but seems to come to the conclusion that it was just an ill-timed joke.]

My, in this situation, a jest like that could give one heart troubles. No one will be murdering anyone here, miss, so that will not be a concern one way or another. [said with determination!!]

That said, if you are willing to bargain with such uneven offers, I will gladly lend my talent should you find it necessary.

[ She doesn't seem to comment toward the murder part and instead accepts Kaoru's word. ] Good.

Now. [ Rapture takes a deep breath and closes her eyes, tilting her head back just a bit. ] I will reveal to you: the nature California and why sun is so important to us. We Californians are beings of light and require the sun to bring us the energy we need. Without it, us Californians are futile! Not to say that the moon's energy is not important as well, but I am able to balance both energies due to my Romani ancestry.

To a pure Californian, the sun is the life force. That is why we sunbathe. To become our full potential, we must be one with the sun and the light it shines down upon us. For thirty to forty-five minutes each day.

[NODDING ALONG LIKE THIS MAKES PERFECT SENSE...]

Is it that you are from another planet like Miss Maryam, then, or are you from the West? I haven't heard of such a group of people before... [though Kaoru's heard of the reverse! vampires...]

[ Maryam...? Maryam... Oh, right! The one with 'vampire strength' and the really well-crafted costume. Rapture still keeps her eyes closed and head slightly back. ]

I was born in the West, but do not let that fool you! My blood is thick with Romani, ancient secrets and rituals have been passed down to me from my ancestors and I am at my strongest during a full moon.

I cannot reveal these secrets to you, of course, but if you wish to ask anything else...

I'm afraid I do not know what Romani is, either. I haven't traveled outside of my country, so my knowledge is shamefully lacking... [an embarrassed look, but Kaoru moves topics to avoid lingering on the whole lack of knowing anything much about the world thing.]

Still, it sounds impressive. Thank you for explaining this bizarre custom to me, miss, though I can think of nothing else to ask as of now.

[ Rapture just opens her eyes and bows her head down to acknowledge Kaoru with a pleasant smile. ]

That's alright. Our contract is mutual — you may ask as many questions as you like when you think of them, but only if you keep your promise to return a favor to me.

I will be certain to do so. But, ah... if you are using this time to re-energize, I would not want to distract you. [shifting from knee to heel, Kaoru makes to stand from the towel.]

[ Once she has the space available to her, she settles into the same position she was lying in before. ]

Please, call me Rapture. And you're... Kaoru, right? I remember you from the photo on your card.
