murder manor reunion

[You are in a darkened theater.

In front of you is an enormous cinema screen. On it plays video of the manor, accompanied by appropriate sound effects and background instrumentals when fitting. The seat you're sitting on is large and plush, and while there's many of them, there's enough room in the theatre for you to fully recline the seat into a comfortable bed if you wish.

Follow the stairs up and you'll reach what should be the projection room. There are no projectors in here, however; it is simply a large and well-lit room above the main seating area, and a good place to hang out with your fellow eliminated contestants if shouting at each other across the aisles proves too much to handle.

If you leave the theatre through the door in the back, you'll find yourself in a hall. On one end is a concession stand. It's stocked with standard movie snacks - popcorn, candy and the like - but if you're feeling the urge for something else, you'll be able to find it stocked somewhere in the back. On the other end is a table with thirty wrapped bags and a placard reading 'A star for our stars! Please accept these lovely giftbags as a token of appreciation for your hard work, sponsored by [illegible smudge]'. Each bag has a tag bearing the name of someone in the mansion; you will only be able to open the bag with your name on it. As soon as you open it, any memories that have been taken from you, including those of the other people in the mansion that you may have forgotten, will be returned in their entirety. Within the bag are also objects from your home that you may want for your stay here, though you will find no weapons.

There are no other doors in the hall save for the one leading back into the theatre room. There are also no windows; it is impossible to tell where you are and what is going on in the outside world. Any attempts to break out will fail. So in the meantime, why not sit back and enjoy the show?]

Murder Manor reunion week has begun! The next week will take place outside the game (and will not be remembered by the living characters). Once the week is over, the living characters will be right back where they left off, Sunday night in the manor.

All the dead characters and eventually all living characters will participate in this week, through Belarus and Yuzu will just be empty shells who cannot interact with the others. Dead characters (except Lithuania, who never arrived) will all be in the theater from the beginning, whereas living characters will only be brought in once specifically introduced, and will be given their memories at that time.

During the times when Doris is taking questions, characters will not be able to talk about things that are 'off topic.' They can talk and reunite with one another, but need to focus on things relevant to that week or topic of discussion. Any time they get off topic, they will find themselves stuck trying to make the words come out of their mouth and will simply trail off. There will be breaks where characters can talk without this restriction, but the same will happen to anyone who, at any time, starts trying to talk about anything to do with there being a Mastermind or player to benefit from the game or planted player who isn't Lithuania. Codes and other attempts to get around this rule will still result in trailing off.

Wait...

You mean to say you were able to see everything before I arrived? [who'd have thought Annie was capable of feeling mortification?]
speakveryclearly: Kanaya with a scattered glow, looking down at something that has unexpectedly disappeared. (Hopeless)

[The way Annie says everything is making Kanaya's face a lot brighter even though this sense is entirely divergent from the actual theatregoer experience.]

Everything... that... was... deemed fit for the airwaves?

[The meltdown after Rin's trial, slapping Poland, the argument with Poland in the parlor, the swing. Annie rubs her temple, groaning softly to herself, but mostly with embarrassment.]
speakveryclearly: Kanaya holds sleeping Karkat's head in her lap, petting his hair, and looks down at him somberly. (Dedication)

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-11-28 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
[Deep confusion. She tries to page through all of it in her mind, but there's too much to pinpoint; she latches, essentially at random, onto the second.]

I was really flattered when you defended my honor against Poland like that.
hollowheart: (Heaven help me)

[personal profile] hollowheart 2013-11-28 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
He had it coming. [she mutters helplessly. She's sunk into dark self loathing after the trail, after not lifting a hand to help Kanaya.] You couldn't have been there to defend yourself.
speakveryclearly: Kanaya with a really faint glow and looking down (Alone)

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-11-28 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess not. My role in this game was never meant to be defensive...

I hid what I could from the others besides Rin. [She did deserve the truth about why and how this had happened.] Everything being recorded, though... it should have been obvious that couldn't last forever.

I think us being on record was something all of us forgot at some point or another.

[She shifts so that her full weight is not on Kanaya, and perhaps so she could look at her when the other is looking down.]

Poland's a good person, though, despite everything. You are, too.
speakveryclearly: Kanaya and Vriska are in schoolgirl uniforms. Vriska has a bandage on her neck and her hand on Kanaya's tie. (Schoolgirl)

Nobody else tries to charm me like you do. It's almost worse, knowing we're good people, than thinking we're all guilty.

Try? I'm wounded. I thought I was a natural. [no she's not, and she doesn't.

Is it, though? You were good people in a less than ideal situation, but that doesn't change your core. You were certainly "bad" people to almost everyone else, but isn't it really the fault of circumstances than any inner center of inherent evil?
speakveryclearly: Kanaya looking up, flickering gently, thoughtful. (Learning)

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-11-28 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Good and evil are pretty much both societal constructs, in their own way. I'm not sure anybody actually possesses such a core.

[Except Gamzee Makara.]
hollowheart: (A revelation in the light of day)

[personal profile] hollowheart 2013-11-29 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
So, you don't think we would gravitate to being good, given the chance?
speakveryclearly: Kanaya with her hand on her hip and a stark, cocentric, unforgiving aura. (Cold)

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-11-29 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
Depends on the definition? I guess there is a sort of natural selection that occurs. That over time we try to be better. It's still... a direction, is't it? How do you get there without a map.

You can't get anywhere without other people shaping you and affecting you in some way. It's not something we can admit easily. Other people... They're unlike us. They're stronger or frailer, more admirable or more disgusting. Goodness may be subjective if we relate it to those around us, but I think we're all capable of it.

Am I a good person to you?
