week 0

[You wake in an unfamiliar bedroom, with no memory of how you came to be there and a sensation that something you once had is gone. The room you're in is luxurious and comfortable, but there is a musty feeling of disuse and decay in the air. Still, you've provided with new wardrobe perfectly tailored for you, a key ring that will unlock your bedroom door, so surely you're welcome to explore the manor?
Have a look around and make yourselves at home. You'll soon find you're not alone, but if any among you knows the secrets of this place, they aren't speaking.]
This is an open mingle log for arrival at the manor. Please put your character's name, location, and the time in the header of their comments. Characters are welcome to explore the manor and get to know one another; nothing else will be revealed to them today.
Alice | Outside the smoking room | 12pm
Once she gets to the smoking room however she's stopped by a surprise. The door is locked. And of course that doesn't satisfy her at all. Locked doors mean locked secrets. So she begins rustling and pushing against the door to get it to open, to no avail. She grits her teeth in anger and starts to look around to see if she can get help. Luckily someone is nearby and that someone is your character!]
Hey you, I could use a little help here.

It may be simpler to find a key.

This door may be intentionally sealed off to us, or perhaps it's too heavy to force open. It's a bit annoying, I'll admit.
[Not that she looks annoyed, or has any expression at all.]

[Not without previous experience in some manner. The tip of her tail twitches.]

Except she's struggling with the door. That makes him pause, steps slowing, and that gives the woman just enough time to address him.
Altman stares at her like a deer in the headlights for a moment, before his curiosity gets the better of him and he turns his attention to the door. Locked, apparently? Great. Locked doors and him don't get along. ]
I can't even get myself back into my car when I lock myself out.
[ He frowns at the lock, already disliking it for a variety of reasons. It looks normal enough, though, old style analog. No pinpad. Maybe if he helps he can avoid looking like a total freakshow here. ]
I... I heard you're supposed to kick it just under the lock, if you want to break through a door.

[She takes a moment to think about what he says and takes a few steps back. There's no lock but she can maybe bring down the doorknob? Worth a shot.]
One...two--
[And with that count she quickly strikes out a kick at the doorknob, putting her all into a striking hit. But...]
No dice. It's firmly shut. Strange that this is the only locked door I've found so far. I don't think someone wants us walking around.

Maybe they're in there. The people behind all this, I mean.

And nobody would know. With so many strangers it'd be easy. Anyone here could be working on the inside...

I don't think the police will be coming. This is too big and too organized.

[She has to believe that. Not only as someone whose been kidnapped twice in such rapid succession, but as someone who lost family to kidnappers.]

[Beat wasn't really paying attention, but sure, he'll help.]
Watchu want, that door open?
no subject
Yeah, it's locked. Something important might be behind it.

[he'll first try swiping the letter opener from his drawer inside, but that doesn't seem to jimmy the lock easily enough.]
Uhh, nope, that won't work. Yo, I could try and bust it open!
