[Fine! Poland opens his mouth.






Except now his teeth are clenched and he's sucking air through them.]

[Don't test her she ranks fourth in her graduating class!

Putting the bread down only momentarily, she starts tickling his sides with great purpose. She's not above fighting dirty]

[Poland writhes around with a gasp, l...laughing hurts! No no!]

[An opening! ...For her fingers to hold his mouth open while she pours a bit of soup in.]

Why do you have to make things so difficult?

G-gck! [Augh! This sucks! Even if Annie chokes him to death with soup they don't even have to hold trial!!

So. Poland begrudgingly swallows.]

Blegh...

[She keeps going, slowly, until at least half of the soup is gone.]

Now that wasn't so hard, was it? [She's never having children. Ever.]

Yes, it was.

[Poland clamps a hand over his mouth like he's trying to deter it from coming back up again by building a blockade.]

[See that glare? It says "if you dare throw up the soup I made I'm going to break your fingers one by one.]

[It's not his fault he has a weak stomach!

Fortunately for Poland's fingers, the nausea passes.]

...if you make me drink tea I will never forgive you.

What if I add a liberal amount of sugar to it?

[Somehow Poland's getting the sense he doesn't actually have a choice in the matter.]

F...fine.

[She lets him get used to the taste of the soup, mixing sugar into the tea wordlessly. The worst of her fever had yet to break, but she's yet to get through the cotton headed phase.


This time, she holds the cup to his lips more gently, not forcing it down his throat. She only keeps her hands on it to steady it.]

[Poland's tongue flicks out at the tea, and he pulls a face. Tea.




But he takes a sip anyways.]

[It will at least settle his stomach come on.]

You should feel lucky. We don't even have half of the food in the mansion back where I'm from.

[Poland's no stranger to roughing it. But that was a long long long time ago. At least as far as he can remember anyways.]

...seriously?

[Fine he'll take another sip.]

Hmmm. [She starts slicing the bread, next, doing it with ease as if slicing things up is something she's done all her life.]

Until I enlisted, we lived on one loaf of bread each, a day. I can't remember much of my training days, but it was mostly bread and potatoes for trainees. [She remembers being on kitchen duty a lot, but not those she's spent it with.]

[Poland looks at the bread uneasily. Liquids were one thing, but bread might be pushing it.]

...is the place you're from poor or something?

[hollowheart]

[What if she coats it generously in jam? What then?]

More or less. Humanity's lost most of its cultivated lands since we all live in walled areas now, so resources are low. Refugees received the lowest portions.

[Well... if he has to eat it...

More jam peasant.]

That sucks.

[hollowheart]

[So much jam it's going to be disgusting, but really sweet. She's not brushing his teeth for him.]

Yeah, it really sucks. I don't miss potato days.

Is that why you picked the food as your prize?

One week they'll just flat out starve us. You'll see.

[Poland finishes his tea, straight faced even.] Yup.

[Putting the sliced bread on a plate, she turns away from the bed to sneeze, wiping her nose on a handkerchief.]

I'm gonna go check on Alice now.

[He almost seems kinda sad to see her leave.]
