[Susan glances up from her soup and blinks for a few moment as if she's not quite sure what she's seeing. ...Perhaps she'd gone delirious as well.]

...Miss Doris?

[This was a first.]

Did you want the fruit pastry after all? I'm afraid all I've got is soup at the moment, but you're welcome to some.

What? Oh no, thank you, but I'm fine. I just needed to know - [she glances around nervously to make sure no one is around and lowers her voice] - the, ah, item you and Mr. Tanaka found. Do you still have it?

[inthebones]

[...Susan will also lower her voice.]

We didn't toss it into the fireplace, if that's what you're asking.

What's the matter?

[She wrings her hands, looking quite harried around the edges.]

I'm terribly sorry, there's been a dreadful mix-up, I don't know how such a mistake could have happened. You were supposed to receive something completely different as your prize this week. I shall need to ask for its return immediately, I'm afraid.

[inthebones]

[Susan's eyebrows raise slightly at this as she gives a small shake of her head.]

It's with Mr. Tanaka now. ...He's been more badly taken by the illness, I think. I don't know if he'll be willing to give it up or if he's in his right mind to do so.

...I don't know that reclaiming it will do much good, either. Four of us have already heard it, and the contents are fairly easy to describe.

[a slight pause, before - ]

Will the culpability for this lie on you?

[productions]

So you've already listened to it? [A strange expression flits across her face for just the briefest of seconds before she regains her usual composure.] I see... This will certainly be a fine mess to explain to the higher-ups, but I'm sure even they'll be able realize that I had nothing to do with this. [She doesn't exactly look convinced though.]

At any rate, they'll likely be more forgiving if I can confiscate the item from Mr. Tanaka and return it to them. Thank you for your time, Miss Sto Helit.

[inthebones]

...I really doubt Gundam will give it up without... persuasion.

[The Hostess probably knows this as well as anyone. Susan continues on in a low tone.]

...Mainly, we would be coming out of this without a physical clue, though. How do you feel about an exchange? - the tape for the clue we failed to attain yesterday. We won't discuss it with anyone further, your higher-ups won't have to know, and we'll still have a clue to work with in our hands.

[productions]

[She frowns.] It does seem a tad unfair that you'll be able to receive two clues instead of one, seeing as how you already know what the first is.

Still...my orders were to retrieve the tape and nothing else. I can hardly see why I should have to make the extra effort to convince Mr. Tanaka when this situation has nothing to do with me anyway. If they want it back so badly, they can come down here and get it themselves. [A firm nod.] Very well then, Miss Sto Helit. If you can persuade him to give up the tape, I will exchange it for the prize you should have received this week.

[inthebones]

...You appear in our rooms when we call your name, yes? I'll have it back to you as soon as I can.

[Susan will sound almost friendly. They had both known what she had been trying to do and the Hostess had agreed anyway.]

Thank you, Miss Doris. We do appreciate your help. [a slight pause] ...With Yuzu, as well, even if the outcome was unfavorable.

...I hope you understand that I can't stretch the rules of this game any more than I already have. I'm already overstepping my boundaries by far agreeing to this. Any more requests and....

[She gazes out into the distance for a moment before shaking herself out of it.] At any rate, please do call me when you have the tape. Have a good morning, Miss Sto Helit.

[inthebones]

...I understand. It's no good pushing if it causes you harm.

[Whether or not she actually feels sympathy for the Hostess, Susan will give a small nod.]
