week 6 - trial

week six trial

[At 9 AM precisely, the old grandfather clock chimes once again, and the doors to the drawing room are opened. They will remain open until everyone has come inside, after which they will shut behind them. It is not possible to leave on your own, although perhaps if you have a specific purpose the hostess will allow you to go, as long as you are accompanied by a partner.

The room is set up comfortably, with several tables by the fireplace set out to assist with the trial. The Hostess will also remain in a seat near the fireplace, next to the scales on the mantle. At lunch, the doors will open to bring in a large meal on an automatically rolling buffet, and at 3 PM, tea and finger sandwiches will be served. You'll be able to enjoy the trial in comfort, of course, but the information cards set out on tables will not allow you to forget your true purpose here.

At 7 PM, the trial will adjourn for the day. Players will be escorted by the Hostess to the ballroom, where dinner and wine will be served until 10 PM, at which point players will be required to return to their wings in groups with their wingmates and will be locked in their bedrooms until 8:30 AM the following morning.]

That explains why she tried to stake me. Look at what's been thrust into the wall.

[Poland gestures into the parlor.]

I mean. If you like, dare.

[Poland's not stepping anywhere near that door though so Rapture is on her own.]

You must have really upset her then.

[ She regards Poland for a moment with a smirk, before she steps into the parlor. It takes her a moment to spot it, but she finds the poker practically hurled into the wall. She reaches out to tap a finger against it, enthralled. ]

It's just like the murder scene! Looks like she still has her "vampire strength."

[Obviously.] ...I guess.

Attempted murder... [The incident flashes back and Poland swallows thickly just remembering how closely he'd come to... "having his brains on the wall." He flips the lights in the Foyer back on, glancing at the fireplace from his spot in the hall looking pale.]

...

Guess a spirit being the culprit in this case is overruled if there's five living suspects for this trial... [ She presses her hand down a bit on the poker, trying to gauge if it's able to move from the wall. Of course, Rapture isn't going to do her best to forcefully remove it because that would just be exerting too much energy. ] I wonder how the game runners managed to pull this off without anyone being seen.

[ She smirks and then turns to see Poland looking terrified in the foyer. ] You really are spooked about this, aren't you?
notyetlost: (not my fault)

[personal profile] notyetlost 2013-11-01 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
[Rapture your face is really irritating. Poland turns sharply folding his arms over his chest.]

When you have searing hot poker chucked at your face and you're saved by the person you hate the most, let me know how you feel about it!

Saved by...? [ Now she's even more interested in this (if that is even possible). She steps back out into the foyer, not bothering with the poker anymore. ] Who saved you?
notyetlost: (blush)

[personal profile] notyetlost 2013-11-01 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
[He is only mentioning this because it's probably a good idea to disclose witnesses when you're being threatened with being executed.

Poland's tucks his head and mumbles out the name...]

...annie.

That makes sense.

[ The sentence has many meanings.

Nearly everyone hates Annie. Rapture doesn't care about her either way, but she thinks it makes great conflict amongst the others. ]

Wait so... Kanaya or Kanaya's ghost attacked you by throwing a poker at you, but you were saved at the last minute by Annie?

Maybe you should start considering yourself a lucky person. Every set of three is complete!
notyetlost: (shut up)

[personal profile] notyetlost 2013-11-01 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[Poland's an optimist by nature but--]

What part of this week has been lucky for me? Like seriously I want to know.

Did you already forget the Wheel of Fortune in your reading? You're practically bound to luck. [ She crosses her arms. ] You may have nearly been impaled by a poker and are a suspect, but what if Annie hadn't been there at the exact moment?

If you're not guilty, then you don't have anything to worry about. Everybody knows what happens when someone gets away with a "murder" now, so they're careful with the trials... though it makes for good final entertainment in the last moments.

[personal profile] notyetlost 2013-11-01 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't believe in that stuff! ... and did you forget the last card you pulled? [Death.]

It's not a question of if. I'm not guilty. [But neither was Ukraine. And when in doubt, what's to stop them from throwing another nation up on the chopping block.]

[personal profile] throe 2013-11-01 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Death doesn't always mean actual death. It's a card of transformation!

Then there's nothing to worry about. If the evidence doesn't speak for itself... [ She cannot help but give a mysterious smile that also looks slightly like a grin. ] ...the profile will.
notyetlost: (i think i'm eating my cheek)

[personal profile] notyetlost 2013-11-02 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
... [God, Rapture you're so weird.]

I'd rather rely on the evidence, no offense.

But if evidence isn't found in time, then there's only one other way to figure it out, right?

Other than being gifted with foresight passed down from ancestor to ancestor that is.
