How is that even relevant now?

Bernkastel was a large part of the investigation of the murder she herself committed; so was Reiko Aya. Doing those things does not absolve you of guilt, nor does it even matter right now, because the suspect list had not even gone up yet when they occurred.

Now that the trial has begun, you haven't lifted a finger. And you really ought to think about doing so- being proactive about solving this murder might save your life. If not... Well, then, you can't possibly cry about it if people come to the wrong... or right... conclusion.

[ She has no idea why Alice is being so combative about this. Sonia worked hard last week to clear her own name and bring justice to the victim; she cannot fathom why Alice does not seem to want to do the same thing for herself. ]

...

We. Are. Done.

But here's my suggestion: how about you give some of that third degree to the others? They haven't done much to clear their names either yet, so only giving me grief is unfair when I'm at least trying to propose ideas!

[She walks away in anger, mad that she isn't being listened to for being a suspect. But fine: Sonia is in her right to suspect her and Alice can accept that, but she's angry that she seems to be the only one getting this grief. People like Rapture went to sunbath after being told about the murder, but she's the one getting lectured? It isn't fair in her eyes.]

[ The only reason Sonia even gave her such advice to begin with is because Alice is the only person out of the suspects who has been stating unproven theories as fact with such carelessness; that's why. It'd be really suspicious in anyone's eyes. ]

Be angry with me if you wish, but my advice to you is sound: please at least try to do something with it.

[ She doesn't seem to really mind ending the conversation; she can only hope that Alice will go to engage in something productive, like re-examining the evidence or crime scenes. ]

Oooooooookay, and stepping in now! First of all, it wasn't a few seconds, I totally stared that thing down for like a full minute.

Also, the trial's just started. We haven't really gotten a chance to investigate anything yet - right now, throwing around theories is all we have until we find more evidence, and we're not letting any of the suspects search the rooms. So let's give Alice a chance before we start jumping down her throat. We don't want a repeat of what happened to Ukraine here.

I was the one who brought up the distraction theory, by the way. I mean, I'm totally with you that the psycho who did this is a sick fucker who gets off on watching us panic, but there might have been an underlying reason to it too. We still haven't found either the poison or the clothes yet.

But last week, I was allowed to search outside of the rooms, despite being a suspect; on top of that, please do not forget that a lack of productivity is what got Ukraine convicted. Her reluctance to be proactive in clearing her name, in investigating evidence, was a factor against her. It was something held up against me in last week's trial, and I believe that there is truth in it. If one wants to clear their name, they need to contribute to the trial.

[ She sighs. ] I simply cannot think that this... ritual... was merely a distraction.
