[ It's actually not as messy as would be expected from Clyde apologizing, more just looks lived in. There are clothes draped over the chairs, in two distinct piles clearly for washing, but. He'll get around to that eventually... The bed is unmade, and there's one empty bottle of liquor by the desk, and one that's mostly full, as well as a dirty glass or two. It seems like after his nights at the bar, he takes another drink alone in his room.
Sitting on the desk is a small pile of letters, as he's said, but if Kaoru can decipher them, there's really nothing of interest. Some of them are recounting trials, usually giving less than pleasant thoughts about the culprit, and others are recounting events that won't have any context to Kaoru, since they seem to be just things from his life. Scattered throughout are letters to people, but again, no one that's in the mansion. It really does just seem to be a hobby of his to write. Even if the writing itself is rather questionable in quality.
The chloroform is untouched, as is the letter opener, but the pocket knife is missing. Otherwise, there's nothing worth noting. ]
[Kaoru will lift both glasses to see if anything smells unusual in either. the letters will also be flipped through briefly, but Kaoru gets pretty quickly that nothing in there is suspicious and will leave most of it alone (chickenscratch).
the chloroform will be taken back to the trial as per usual, and a mental note is made of the missing pocket knife, though Kaoru remembers from the first trial that he carries it on his person. after that, the closet will be turned to. Kaoru will look for any tears, blood stains, or anything that seems particularly unusual.]
[ The glasses smell like whiskey, which seems to be Clyde's drink of choice based on the bottles. As for the closet, there's nothing unusual! Everything is in place and relatively neat. ]
[just to be thorough, Kaoru will check beneath the pillow, sheets, beneath the bed and behind the curtains. if nothing turns up there, one last check of the liquor cabinet and a rummage through the chest will be given and then Kaoru will leave the room with the chloroform bottle.]
