week 4 - trial

week four trial

[At 9 AM precisely, the old grandfather clock chimes once again, and the doors to the drawing room are opened. They will remain open until everyone has come inside, after which they will shut behind them. It is not possible to leave on your own, although perhaps if you have a specific purpose the hostess will allow you to go, as long as you are accompanied by a partner.

The room is set up comfortably, with several tables by the fireplace set out to assist with the trial. The Hostess will also remain in a seat near the fireplace, next to the scales on the mantle. At lunch, the doors will open to bring in a large meal on an automatically rolling buffet, and at 3 PM, tea and finger sandwiches will be served. You'll be able to enjoy the trial in comfort, of course, but the information cards set out on tables will not allow you to forget your true purpose here.

At 7 PM, the trial will adjourn for the day. Players will be escorted by the Hostess to the ballroom, where dinner and wine will be served until 10 PM, at which point players will be required to return to their wings in groups with their wingmates and will be locked in their bedrooms until 8:30 AM the following morning.]

It's hardly a waste of time! If I were going to kill someone, I would never do it in a way that would put an animal at risk.

[ She pats Sun-D. ] She has been on my person for days now. I would never face off against a robotic being when they could so easily crush her. I am sure T... Gundam feels similarly.
mostlymarried: (that's incredibly stupid)

[ARE YOU BEING SERIOUS]

And putting the creature away would be completely impossible?

We are looking for evidence. Not excuses.
teenspirit: (been a son)

[ Very much so. ]

...I can't. I can't put her down.

You see... the reason she was given to me is because I turned out to be deadweight from last week's trial... So my life was- and it is even now- at risk. But you see... if someone targeted me, she would be able to alert the others very quickly...

So I have kept her on my person at all times since then. You cannot fault me for being cautious.

It is an animal. You are suspected of being a culprit alongside it's master. That you could not have it removed is a false argument. With this nonsense, you are wasting. Our. Time.

You don't have to believe me. But I have far too much to lose not to make provisions for my own safety. Claim 'false argument' all you wish- it is even more foolish to believe the accomplice theory without proof.
mostlymarried: (no u)

[personal profile] mostlymarried 2013-10-17 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
The accomplice theory has the evidence of the bell, which is more than you can provide.

The rules state only a killer can be free of this house. Murder of another can be seen as a provision for your safety, or did you ignore the last trial?

The only thing the bell proves is the presence of third person! It does not prove the existence of an accomplice! You're making an unsupported leap in logic! Isn't that what got one of you nations killed?

[ Sonia looks exasperated. ]

Let me tell you this: were I to kill someone, I would not have picked the robot as a victim. I would have gone for someone who would present to me the least amount of risk as possible. And I would have performed it far more pragmatically.

[oh. you. didn't.

Just about everything regarding Belarus seems to go cold. Her eyes. Her tone of voice. Where before you were simply being irritating with flimsy excuses, now you have genuinely invited dislike.

Belarus is silent, her fists tightening, before she speaks again. Very clipped. And so very cold.]

I can only assume you are saying that to me personally to make angry. I can only assume on that basis you are an idiot who could, and can, not make a pragmatic decision to save her life.

That the bell rang early is fact. An accomplice is supported by the rules and the most logical conclusion. The two of you are suspects, and thus your words are suspect. I am willing to accept that you are simply desperate and not thinking, because that fits you, and if you wish you may retract those words and we can discuss matters supported by evidence.

That is the last of what patience I will give you.
teenspirit: (drain you)

[personal profile] teenspirit 2013-10-18 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
[ Yeah, uh, Sonia doesn't... care. Sorry. She doesn't seem intimidated at all. The fact that Belarus has resorted to personal insults has pretty much delegated her to a sympathetic status in Sonia's eyes: clearly, she is unstable. ]

I won't be retracting a thing. Goodness, though, you sure look angry; you act like you know the first thing about me! You should sit down; I'll fetch you some water?
vytis: (but the ones I aim to pleaseth)

[personal profile] vytis 2013-10-18 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
[Excuse him, ladies, Lithuania is just going to interrupt and try to defuse this situation before it gets any worse. So he's just going to grab hold of Belarus's wrist.]

Arguing over this isn't going to get us anywhere. Here, Miss Belarus, we still haven't brought the body in--would you like to go with me to get it?
teenspirit: (on a plain)

[personal profile] teenspirit 2013-10-18 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
...The sooner the better. After all, how the murder was performed may absolve some of the suspects... and that can be measured from the wound, right...

In any case, explaining myself is apparently futile. I shall wait for the retrieval.
