week 4 - trial

[At 9 AM precisely, the old grandfather clock chimes once again, and the doors to the drawing room are opened. They will remain open until everyone has come inside, after which they will shut behind them. It is not possible to leave on your own, although perhaps if you have a specific purpose the hostess will allow you to go, as long as you are accompanied by a partner.
The room is set up comfortably, with several tables by the fireplace set out to assist with the trial. The Hostess will also remain in a seat near the fireplace, next to the scales on the mantle. At lunch, the doors will open to bring in a large meal on an automatically rolling buffet, and at 3 PM, tea and finger sandwiches will be served. You'll be able to enjoy the trial in comfort, of course, but the information cards set out on tables will not allow you to forget your true purpose here.
At 7 PM, the trial will adjourn for the day. Players will be escorted by the Hostess to the ballroom, where dinner and wine will be served until 10 PM, at which point players will be required to return to their wings in groups with their wingmates and will be locked in their bedrooms until 8:30 AM the following morning.]

A machine, huh? Hard to imagine a machine bein' so much like a person, but I've seen plenty of crazy stuff here already, so. [ He shrugs ] Guess I gotta take it for what it is. Stuff like that makes me feel really out of the loops, though.

No kidding. First murder was one hell of a spectacle, and it seems like every week they wanna show her up.
[ But to what she says, he hums thoughtfully and I guess they are probably close to Rin's room?? He'll stand aside to let her unlock the door. ]
Interestin' theory, though. I saw her info card, but didn't get much about it. Makes sense now, though, more or less. Probably a good thing she was open about it, or we at least had the cards. It seems dangerous to have somethin' else like that just hidin' amongst normal people. But that could just be the way this place has been makin' me think lately talkin' too. Who knows?

We'll wax philosophical about the ramifications about robots acting like humans later. For now, lets search Rin's room.
[And in they go.]

[ Clyde will go to the desk first! That generally seems like a good place to look... ]

The desk seems to have been used fairly often as well, as there are a couple mystery novels lying on it. There's also a bunch of oranges scattered around on it and several peels in the trash. The inside of the desk, though, doesn't seem to have been bothered with at all - the chloroform, knife and letter opener are all untouched.]

[The laptop especially might be something of interest and Clyde doesn't come off as the type of guy who even knows how to operate a computer. Alice heads for the laptop and tries to see if Rin may have left something on it of interest.]

Rin's laptop is slightly futuristic, and contains has tons and tons of music, as well as tons and tons of fan art of Rin herself. And a combination of the two: Promotional Videos for her songs. It also has some games, and a few downloaded videos... Cat videos. Everyone loves cat videos.
As for something much more juicy, it seems that her info card is correct: Rin was using this computer to back up her own AI data. It's highly encrypted, but if Alice is skilled enough to crack it, she'll have access to Rin's memories and even her very thoughts. .... From her last save, of course.]

Jackpot!
[It might take some time, but if she can crack this it can possibly give a huge insight into the case.]
Clyde, you find anything interesting?

[ He takes a step back, since he can't take the music score, walking over to the desk to see what she's managed. ]
Sounds like you had better luck. [ NOT THAT HE EVEN KNOWS WHAT HE'S LOOKING AT... being from the 1920s is hard ]

Her laptop is secured with personal data. Remember what I said about robots: they're just machines. And she seems to have used this laptop to store her data. If I can crack the encryption code on it, we might be able to get access to her data and find something useful. Maybe a clue as to what happened before she died.
[She closes the laptop and unplugs the power cord, intending to take both back to the Drawing Room.]
This is going to take me a while, so we should head back if there's nothing else to find here. What do you think?

Sounds like a good way to go to me. I'll leave it in your much more capable hands. Think the musical score is worth mentionin'? It's not exactly like she's a suspect, so I don't know how relevant it is.
