WEEK 3 - TRIAL

week three trial

[At 9 AM precisely, the old grandfather clock chimes once again, and the doors to the drawing room are opened. They will remain open until everyone has come inside, after which they will shut behind them. It is not possible to leave on your own, although perhaps if you have a specific purpose the hostess will allow you to go, as long as you are accompanied by a partner.

The room is set up comfortably, with several tables by the fireplace set out to assist with the trial. The Hostess will also remain in a seat near the fireplace, next to the scales on the mantle. At lunch, the doors will open to bring in a large meal on an automatically rolling buffet, and at 3 PM, tea and finger sandwiches will be served. You'll be able to enjoy the trial in comfort, of course, but the information cards set out on tables will not allow you to forget your true purpose here.

At 7 PM, the trial will adjourn for the day. Players will be escorted by the Hostess to the ballroom, where dinner and wine will be served until 10 PM, at which point players will be required to return to their wings in groups with their wingmates and will be locked in their bedrooms until 8:30 AM the following morning.]

Evidently, there are some vast differences between your world and mine. But perhaps we should save this cosmological discussion for another time.

[Susan will refrain from saying what she actually means, which is 'I've never heard such nonsense in my life.' Everyone knew that stars were nothing more than tiny balls of fire hanging in the sky, barely a mile or so across.]

...I just want to see how easily you can manipulate the body. You certainly don't need to disintegrate it.
herpreciousrival: (oh dear that's not nice)

[personal profile] herpreciousrival 2013-10-12 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
Very well. Shall we pick a more open spot for this?

I don't want to injure anyone accidentally.

Miss Carter's body is already outside, so yes, perhaps we should. Whoever wants to observe can come as well.

[Susan will nod towards the door.]
herpreciousrival: (hmm?)

[personal profile] herpreciousrival 2013-10-12 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
[Outside we go then.]
inthebones: (Unsure)

[The body lies covered with the cloak Susan was wearing earlier on in the trial. She will remove it now with a slight sigh and... prop the body up......]

...Alright. Pretend Miss Carter is approaching to assault you. How would you normally restrain her?
herpreciousrival: (sad)

[personal profile] herpreciousrival 2013-10-12 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
Ah... [Siren bows apologetically... to the corpse.] Forgive me Miss Carter.

And you will want to get out of the way Miss Sto Helit.
inthebones: (Surprise)

[personal profile] inthebones 2013-10-12 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
Ah. ...Right, then.

[Susan will. stand Sharon as straight as she can. And then promptly step quickly to the right, leaving the body to slowly slump to the ground again.

Hopefully Siren will snag it in time.]
herpreciousrival: (galactica tsunami)

[personal profile] herpreciousrival 2013-10-12 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
Galactica... [Once Susan has moved, Siren's bracelets start to glow as her hair gains sentience.] Tsunami!

[A section of hair shoots out from her head while the rest flairs out behind her, as if caught in a wind. Siren's smaller section of hair ensnares itself around Sharon's neck as she slumps lifelessly. Siren's hair seems incapable of actually supporting Sharon's body and she hits the ground. It's apparent that Siren is still strangling her however.]

[Susan will observe this sequence with a nod. ...Obviously, Siren could be holding back, but there was no point in saying as such.]

Can you only grasp one part of the body at a time? If you used more of your hair, possibly?
herpreciousrival: (nggh)

[personal profile] herpreciousrival 2013-10-12 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
I go for the neck because their first instinct is to grab at the hair around it.

[More hair shoots out to join the hair around Sharon's neck, that would ensnare her wrists if she were alive.] From there I ensnare their wrists.

[Even with the additional hair, she still can't support Sharon's body.]

Once trapped, I use the ability of my bracelets to remove their starseed. [She can't demonstrate that in her current state however.]

And you can do this with such strength that you fear disintegrating your victims?

[Disintegration was apparently another thing that differed between their two worlds. Susan will continue to watch for a few more moments.]

I think that will suffice for now. Thank you, Miss Reiko.

It doesn't appear as if you'd be able to suspend him over the shaft long enough to inflict the stab wounds we found, so we'll have to consider more mundane means.
herpreciousrival: (that's nice)

[personal profile] herpreciousrival 2013-10-12 02:29 pm (UTC)(link)
The strength is in the strangulation technique. [Siren releases Sharon, her hair losing it's sentience.] Our bodies are nothing more than containers for our star seeds. Once the body is dead or the star seed is removed, there is no reason for it to continue existing. The useless body simply disintegrates away, it's not something special related to my abilities.

[Dead bodies lingering around is one of the many reasons why this place has been so entirely baffling for her at least.]

Thank you for providing me with the opportunity to demonstrate, Miss Sto Helit. And you too Miss Carter. [Siren nods gratefully.]
inthebones: (Skeptical)

[personal profile] inthebones 2013-10-13 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
...

[If Siren hasn't realized she's just admitted that her job is casually murdering people to harvest... something from their bodies, Susan won't bring it up. There is simply an awkward nod back in response.]

Let's return to the room, then. Thank you for your cooperation.
herpreciousrival: (hmm?)

[personal profile] herpreciousrival 2013-10-13 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
[Is this something she's not supposed to tell other people in polite conversation?]

Yes, of course. You're welcome.
