[At 9 AM precisely, the old grandfather clock chimes once again, and the doors to the drawing room are opened. They will remain open until everyone has come inside, after which they will shut behind them. It is not possible to leave on your own, although perhaps if you have a specific purpose the hostess will allow you to go, as long as you are accompanied by a partner.

The room is set up comfortably, with several tables by the fireplace set out to assist with the trial. The Hostess will also remain in a seat near the fireplace, next to the scales on the mantle. At lunch, the doors will open to bring in a large meal on an automatically rolling buffet, and at 3 PM, tea and finger sandwiches will be served. You'll be able to enjoy the trial in comfort, of course, but the information cards set out on tables will not allow you to forget your true purpose here.

At 7 PM, the trial will adjourn for the day. Players will be escorted by the Hostess to the ballroom, where dinner and wine will be served until 10 PM, at which point players will be required to return to their wings in groups with their wingmates and will be locked in their bedrooms until 8:30 AM the following morning.]

[stepping up! it doesn't seem right to treat the suspects as anything less than innocent until proven otherwise, so Kaoru retains politeness.]

Spain's Room

( Spain's room looks ordinary enough. The bed is unfixed, a set of worn clothes has been tossed on top. Unless you're a bit of a neat freak, the room doesn't look too messy at all.

On the desk, there are two general European history books. One book is open face down and turning it over will show the beginning of a chapter about early modern European empires. Beside the books is a sizable pile of paper flowers.

The knife, letter opener, and vial are locked away in the drawer. There is a notebook missing many pages (presumably used to make the flowers). Some of the pages have weird drawings and sketches though they don't compare to Dave's.

[guess who's a neat freak it is Kaoru. that's a good thing for Spain though since it means everything will be put back in its place after being checked.

either way, starting at the wardrobe (after stopping to admire those nifty paper flowers)! Kaoru will be opening that and the chest and looking for any clothing that might have blood or obvious markings indicating a struggle on it. also checking Spain's shoes for the same thing!]

( The only thing it would reveal is Spain is lazy at folding and putting away his clothes. )

[oh good Kaoru won't have to do much work to put things back where they belong...

after that, Kaoru will move to the drawer and search through it, looking for all of the items everyone received upon arrival and the chloroform bottle.]

( There's nothing out of the ordinary and everything is in the same condition as when they arrived; even the chloroform bottle which is still unopened and full. Someone was probably asleep during disposal meeting, oops. )

[Spain you're a danger. Kaoru will be taking the bottle back after finishing the search just so it can be properly disposed of later...

anyway going to flip through those books and then move on to check the liquor cabinet to see if anything is particularly out of the ordinary. the covers and beneath the bed will be checked under as well, and behind the curtains for good measure.]

( There isn't anything unusual about the bed or the curtains (which are drawn shut). The liquor cabinet only reveals that someone has taken advantage of it the free alcohol. It looks like he's had a few drinks since he's been here. )

[well Kaoru can definitely understand the desire to take advantage of the free liquor at least.

with the vial of chloroform in hand, one last sweep of the room for anything largely unusual will be made. if that clears, it's back to the trial.]
