WEEK 3 - TRIAL

[At 9 AM precisely, the old grandfather clock chimes once again, and the doors to the drawing room are opened. They will remain open until everyone has come inside, after which they will shut behind them. It is not possible to leave on your own, although perhaps if you have a specific purpose the hostess will allow you to go, as long as you are accompanied by a partner.
The room is set up comfortably, with several tables by the fireplace set out to assist with the trial. The Hostess will also remain in a seat near the fireplace, next to the scales on the mantle. At lunch, the doors will open to bring in a large meal on an automatically rolling buffet, and at 3 PM, tea and finger sandwiches will be served. You'll be able to enjoy the trial in comfort, of course, but the information cards set out on tables will not allow you to forget your true purpose here.
At 7 PM, the trial will adjourn for the day. Players will be escorted by the Hostess to the ballroom, where dinner and wine will be served until 10 PM, at which point players will be required to return to their wings in groups with their wingmates and will be locked in their bedrooms until 8:30 AM the following morning.]
Findings
Exhibit A
Drawing in his room. Blood on corner. Bloodstain on the corner of the desk where I found it.
Notes on the Movement of the Victim
He was not normally an early riser.
Notes on the Crime Scene
That form was discovered in the wrecks of the so-called "elevator shaft," lying prone atop the useless elevator cart, which in its dormancy proves the old adage that the greatest glories of humans will always fade to dust and disuse. Sun-D discovered that this abyss may be entered from the kitchen, but further research has revealed it may also be entered from second or third floor ingresses. Therefore, it is impossible for all but the Dark Gods to say which was used.
However, in their divine and fearsome wisdom, the Dark Gods have revealed to me that the terrible, mangled state of the body, rife with blood and broken, shattered limbs, speaks of a drop from on high - atop the shaft on the third floor, perhaps, or merely the second? They decline to reveal more, for their secret wisdoms are not meant for mortal ears.
Even so, the scene was wet with blood, and the weapon that caused that wetness, the sword of reckoning, lay by its body. I have seen such swords in my travels - though it bears a different name in different worlds, men of the land my mortal body hails from name it "katana." For ease, I shall use that name.
That scene was terribly dark but darkness means nothing to the dreadful Sun-D, my Fearsome Witch of a Thousand Fangs. We moved the body so it might be examined by mortal sight, and none but blood and katana remained.

Wow, thanks a lot for crediting me, I really appreciate it.
--Anastasia, the actual discoverer of the body
Exhibit B
A key made of bone, apparently a skeleton key, was found in the pocket of the victim.
Notes on the Body
no subject
A check with the katana reveals that it fits the injuries with slight room for movement. There is no torn skin to indicate Mr. Strider struggled while being stabbed.
There is one swollen gash on the back of Mr. Strider's head.
Exhibit C
The skeleton key was found on the victim's body. It opens any bedroom in the house.
The victim's room key was discovered in his room under piles of clothing.
Results of Suspect's Room Investigations
Siren / Ruby Room 3
No signs of blood; everything is neat and tidy. Chloroform, penknife and letter opener recovered. Girl you have too many business cards.
[on the table, the knife and letter opener are left next to a bottle labelled 'SIREN'. And a business card because seriously there's only 30 people even here-]
Beat / Sapphire Room 5
Messy. Beat, please clean your everything in future. No blood found... and we can probably rule out it being cleaned off, to be honest.
Chloroform bottle found empty and the letter opener is damaged. Penknife unused.
- (note:) attempted use opener to break the lock in the Smoking Room at the very beginning with Alice
[once again, these items are left next to an empty chloroform bottle labelled 'BEAT', with the letter opener bent and scratched but otherwise clean]
Altman / Sapphire Room 4
No blood found; room was mostly filled with pages of notes and scribblings.
Chloroform, letter opener and penknife appear unused.
Mess is mostly paper everywhere but also dirt from being outside.
[third for third, the bottle labelled 'ALTMAN' lies on the table with the penknife and letter opener; none of them displaying any unusual features. As an example, a few sheets of the pages in his room have also been provided*
*altman's notes don't reference killing or ocular trauma but center primarily on his missing family and girlfriend]
-Yuzu Aihara
no subject
No blood found.
Chloroform not emptied but appears full.
Penknife and letter opener appear to be unused.
Paper flowers and sketches present; no particularly large messes.
[on the table is a full chloroform bottle labelled 'SPAIN'. Kaoru hadn't thought to bring back any flowers, papers, or books from the room, and has left behind the knife and letter opener.]
Belarus/Topaz Room 5
No blood found. Room was a little muddy due to shovel and boots.
Chloroform emptied earlier in disposal effort.
Penknife appeared to be unused.
Letter opener bent; Miss Belarus explained that she bent it to test for durability and displayed her strength by bending it again.
Kitchen knife found beneath pillow. Miss Belarus stated that it is for defense and displayed two more knives which she carries on her person. None displayed obvious signs of use save one, which appears to have been used for wood shaving.
[Belarus's bent letter opener and the kitchen knife fetched from below her pillow are labelled and left on the table.]
Results of Susan's Test of Siren's Abilities
"It doesn't appear as if you'd be able to suspend him over the shaft long enough to inflict the stab wounds we found."
