[At 9 AM precisely, the old grandfather clock chimes once again, and the doors to the drawing room are opened. They will remain open until everyone has come inside, after which they will shut behind them. It is not possible to leave on your own, although perhaps if you have a specific purpose the hostess will allow you to go, as long as you are accompanied by a partner.

The room is set up comfortably, with several tables by the fireplace set out to assist with the trial. The Hostess will also remain in a seat near the fireplace, next to the scales on the mantle. At lunch, the doors will open to bring in a large meal on an automatically rolling buffet, and at 3 PM, tea and finger sandwiches will be served. You'll be able to enjoy the trial in comfort, of course, but the information cards set out on tables will not allow you to forget your true purpose here.

At 7 PM, the trial will adjourn for the day. Players will be escorted by the Hostess to the ballroom, where dinner and wine will be served until 10 PM, at which point players will be required to return to their wings in groups with their wingmates and will be locked in their bedrooms until 8:30 AM the following morning.]

[Susan will refrain from making any jokes about 'so you are stuck' etc. etc. as she gets to her knees next to the table and peers in.]

It's just a wad of tape stuck to the bottom? Just in the center?

[It wasn't... that strange, honestly, to find tape randomly stuck somewhere, but overlooking anything would be a mistake.]

Perhaps they taped him to the elevator shaft.

The strength is in the strangulation technique. [Siren releases Sharon, her hair losing it's sentience.] Our bodies are nothing more than containers for our star seeds. Once the body is dead or the star seed is removed, there is no reason for it to continue existing. The useless body simply disintegrates away, it's not something special related to my abilities.

[Dead bodies lingering around is one of the many reasons why this place has been so entirely baffling for her at least.]

Results of Suspect's Room Investigations

Kaoru and I searched the suspects' rooms; these are what we found:

Siren / Ruby Room 3
No signs of blood; everything is neat and tidy. Chloroform, penknife and letter opener recovered. Girl you have too many business cards.

[on the table, the knife and letter opener are left next to a bottle labelled 'SIREN'. And a business card because seriously there's only 30 people even here-]

Beat / Sapphire Room 5
Messy. Beat, please clean your everything in future. No blood found... and we can probably rule out it being cleaned off, to be honest.
Chloroform bottle found empty and the letter opener is damaged. Penknife unused.

Altman / Sapphire Room 4
No blood found; room was mostly filled with pages of notes and scribblings.
Chloroform, letter opener and penknife appear unused.
Mess is mostly paper everywhere but also dirt from being outside.

I apologize, I don't mean to put words in your mouth Miss Belarus. [Establishing motive politely is difficult. Although she has established that Belarus has no problem killing the guilty, however.]

So the only thing preventing you from doing so is an image problem?

Spain/Emerald Room 5
No blood found.
Chloroform not emptied but appears full.
Penknife and letter opener appear to be unused.
Paper flowers and sketches present; no particularly large messes.

[on the table is a full chloroform bottle labelled 'SPAIN'. Kaoru hadn't thought to bring back any flowers, papers, or books from the room, and has left behind the knife and letter opener.]

Belarus/Topaz Room 5
No blood found. Room was a little muddy due to shovel and boots.
Chloroform emptied earlier in disposal effort.
Penknife appeared to be unused.
Letter opener bent; Miss Belarus explained that she bent it to test for durability and displayed her strength by bending it again.
Kitchen knife found beneath pillow. Miss Belarus stated that it is for defense and displayed two more knives which she carries on her person. None displayed obvious signs of use save one, which appears to have been used for wood shaving.

Results of Susan's Test of Siren's Abilities

I have no reason to care about my image; I have simply been asked not to.

Under the laws of the Commonwealth I am a part of she would be dead already. A soldier at 16 is no child. [SURE IS 18TH CENTURY IN HERE]

The purpose of justice is to be seen as a demonstration of the law, not by some shadowy farce.

[ He nods, stuffing his hands into his pockets. ]

Yeah, let's go. Might as well start in the Sapphire wing, since it's closest and there's more than one there anyways.

It would be the best starting point, yes...

[As they make their way there almost instinctively Latvia makes his way to Ukraine's room first. He reaches out to touch the handle but falters as his fingertips brush over it]

Um... which room do you think we be best to check first?

[ Her points to the door, since to him, who didn't really know her, it's obvious. ]

...Well, this one. We're already here.

... Right.

[Fumbling about for the key in his pocket he unlocks the room. Slowly he pushes the door open]

[ So in they go! Clyde doesn't hesitate to step into the room, and he looks around for anything that seems out of the ordinary. He doesn't know what the room was like before, so he's really just looking for anything strange. ]

[And back to Dave's room, because it's still weird that there's so little blood and hey, maybe they moved the desk to cover some up or something who knows.]

How do you want to test the soundproofing?

Well Susan thinks if Dave got jumped in there, he'd have yelled - so all you gotta do is shut the door and holler out before you start lookin' at stuff. And I'll see if I can hear ya!

I still maintain that a way out of this place might be found.

[even after three weeks... granted Kaoru hasn't seen many people looking around lately, what with the whole being preoccupied with not dying thing.]

Alright. [Lithuania walks into Dave's room, shuts the door, and shouts, loudly, to Beat.]

Can you hear me?

[It's a little frustrating to be working so hard to prove her innocence when it doesn't seem to be getting her anywhere.]

May I just say that I don't feel that Mr. Altman has offered up any kind of explanation for us to believe in his innocence. It's not as if we've found anything that exonerates him completely, I think his silence is unsettling.

His drawings are a bit... unsettling.

[Susan murmurs from the evidence table as she leafs through them.]

We do seem to have a veritable plethora of artistic talent involved in this week's trial, though.

[A bit. Yes. That is definitely the descriptor one would use.]

His card lists a sharpened spoon. Clearly that was not the weapon utilized here, but is it possible that if he's able to wield such an... unwieldily weapon and cause damage perhaps he was able to manage the sword as well.

Has he ever explained where his scars derived from?

[Given the position Siren is in, Susan won't admonish her for making such a stretch.]

I would assume it's from fighting monsters. Apparently, he was captured and placed in such a situation prior to coming here - the weapon he was given being the spoon.

If he's fighting monsters back home he could certainly manage a human being, yes?

That would depend on how he was fighting. I doubt he was using a spoon prior to his capture - perhaps gonnes were involved somehow.

Then he should have to display his fighting ability, just like I did.
