Aliens? [ She calmly raises herself up on her elbows. Her gaze is still obscured by her sunglasses. ] How do you figure?
reunified: (It's pretty big)

The sun and moon emit and reflect solar radiation and light, right? A full moon is just a night where the sunlight is reflected off the moon without the earth obscuring it. Seems like all of that is taking place in space, then reaching us.

[ He pauses, then shrugs slightly. ]

Besides, all the weird unexplainable stuff I know of has turned out to be extraterrestrial something or other.

[ Rapture pulls herself into a sitting position, leaning on her hands behind her. ]

I've never met a scientist that believes in aliens before! [ She doesn't mean it with patronization, it's very true... then again, she doesn't run into many scientists in her profession. She's never bothered to ask Minx's opinion on it and she doesn't care at all about Techrat. ] Does that mean you've found evidence?

I didn't used to, but yeah, we did. We found something off the coast of South America, a giant monolith on the ocean floor. It... it definitely wasn't human in origin, and what it was capable of was beyond any of our technology.

Sounds like 2001: A Space Odyssey. How'd you figure to discover it? I mean... did it just show up? Or had it been there for awhile?

Apparently it's been there for a while. It... looks like it might have had a part in the evolution of life on our planet.

Wow. [ She sounds fascinated. It's not so much that she believes it, but that it's a part of his role and... she just happens to enjoy fantasy and science fiction in the first place. It's rare she finds someone else's story as interesting as her own. ]

Were there strange things going on in South America that led you to it? Like tides changing or animals acting weird, maybe even people showing signs.

People and animal, yes. Most people who were exposed started to go insane.

this sounds just like that one x-files episode

[personal profile] throe 2013-10-11 11:52 am (UTC)(link)
That's incredible! How'd you manage to research it then?
reunified: (Even if I feel like I'm riding a whale)

[personal profile] reunified 2013-10-13 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
Not very effectively. Nearly everyone but me went insane after exposure, and I don't have the kind of skills that lend themselves to doing much beyond figuring out what it's made of.
