It isn't about a lack of trust so much as it is proper precaution. Maybe I'm giving you a banana in good conscience, but perhaps I left it on a table for a moment and someone else injected thallium into it while my back was turned. Do you understand what I mean?

I suppose there's one positive about all this. By the time this is over, we shall all be absolute experts at preventing and detecting unusual crimes.
