This post will cover the weekend period from the end of trial Friday evening to early Sunday evening, when new incentives will be announced. No murders will take place over this time.

This "audience"... Continuing such a charade in the face of so many already dead, it's beyond cruel.

If it is true that this is put on for entertainment, perhaps they don't believe any of this to be real. A stage show.
That is all I can hope to say in their defense.

[to think that people out there might simply believe they're all good actors and actresses rather than in genuine distress somehow seems terrible in its own right.]

All of this is a distraction from what we really need to focus on - finding a way out of this mess.

[the first murder had been such a large change that Kaoru had hardly even noticed. there was a definite shift, from searching the library and the outdoors for a way to escape to searching for clues.]
...That is very true. My apologies, I do not mean to derail. [a quick glance back to the board.] The safety of those on the lower lists should be secured, as well, before focus is given to the task of escape.

I'll continue to check on everyone as often as I can.
...
May, especially, should not be allowed to be alone at any time.
no subject
that last bit results in a somewhat grim expression, though.]
I would not wish to think that anyone could target a child, but it would be naive and foolish to hope that things will simply work out for the best now. Optimism... as much as I hope for it, is not feasible at this point.
Should anyone foolishly choose to attempt harming Miss May, it can at least be said that they will not be successful.

[A slight pause.]
You must be cautious as well, of course, even if you intend to protect May. Simply because you're not listed on the lower tiers doesn't mean you're not in danger.
no subject
[that gets an understanding nod.] Thank you for the concern, Miss Sto Helit. I will not allow my guard to drop.

The incentive now is simply preposterous - you can't change the past. It would fracture the universe entirely. Meddling with time will bring about the end - and I mean the End. It's almost happened before in my world.
no subject
Still... I fear it may be enough motivation for someone. Do you believe that disaster may be avoided if the impossibilities of this incentive are explained?
no subject
No, I don't believe it at all.
Because as much as I believe that humans are... incredible creatures who deserve their place in the universe, I also believe that the depths of their idiocy can reach no limits.
Come Thursday, we'll be in that room again.

I wish that it was not so, but I will not be naive enough to hope for it. Preventative measures are most likely our best option - keeping a close eye on those on the list, and retaining our guards. ...It certainly does make looking into escape more difficult, when one is constantly concerned with the lives of themselves and the ones around them. [a purposeful game mechanism, no doubt.]

[Another pause before Susan rolls her eyes and heaves a sigh of disgust.]
I can't stand being outmaneuvered at every turn. It's really very... annoying - if my hair weren't already white, I'm quite sure it'd have changed by now. Perhaps I'll start losing it soon.

You have done so much for everyone, I can only imagine the stress... But it does seem to be as though things are very intentionally designed this way, and that the people here have been selected with an equal amount of care so that there will always be at least one danger to be looking out for.
no subject
Yes, I'm sure you're right. They could hardly have a game if they picked 30 pacifists or anything of the like. ...There are certainly more amongst us who aren't quite what we seem.
[A slight sigh.]
Perhaps if we're lucky, they'll call themselves off.
no subject
As Bernkastel was, perhaps... though I had heard that she made no effort to hide her apathy or uncaring nature toward murder even before that week. [Kaoru doesn't sigh, but the impeccable posture seems to slump just a little.]
It is an unsettling idea. I can only hope we will be so lucky for that.
no subject
In any case, there's nothing to be gained from worrying about it.
We must simply do what we can.
[Susan seems to think the conversation is over as she gives Kaoru a slight nod and turns away.]
