[any time breakfast buddy, Kaoru will always be here to provide label-displaying needs.]

I believe that they almost certainly are. [Kaoru's expression drops a little into something that's not very pleased. after the past two weeks and seeing their numbers whittled so fast, it's hard not to bear a grudge against the ones responsible.] ...I suppose this is what one might call "human nature at its worst"?
speakveryclearly: Kanaya with pursed, green lips, looking up at the sky skeptically. Offscreen her hand is on her hip. (Tch)

I think so. [Toying with a shaker now, turning it towards herself to display the S on the side.] It would be pedantic to exonerate humanity when our victims thus far have been a witch and a shape-shifter. Though I suppose it's not impossible the Hostess herself isn't even human.

They did take lives, to be fair, so I would not call them victims entirely. [partial victims, though... Annie more than Bernkastel, at least.]

Still, if the audience is composed of humans... To think that they would enjoy the slaughter of both their own kind and others alike; it is excessive, crude and disgusting, I agree.
speakveryclearly: Kanaya with faintly upquirked lips and eyebrows at a whimsical Terezi. (Uncertainty)

I feel like a constituent of a menagerie. Clearly they needed an alien to round out the reapers and nations and mages and whatever else.

[a small, quirking smile of agreement.]

It does seem like you fit in incredibly well in a place like this... I do not think that there are very many humans without at least one unnatural ability here.
speakveryclearly: Kanaya in monochrome looking to her right with a soft, smug expression and closed lips. (Pleased)

Yeah, Yuzu's almost more unusual in that regard than not. Every cast needs an "everyman", though, doesn't it.

Miss Aihara is doing quite impressively considering the circumstances, even so. [good job special talents: none, you can climb the mountain!]
speakveryclearly: Kanaya in red Japanese clothes on a pastel background. Swift strokes. Simple, slight smile. (Ordinary)

I'm really proud of her ability to keep her head above water. She's an inspiration to us all in that respect.
souredsweet: jackandtink (serenities)

[personal profile] souredsweet 2013-10-07 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
[a nod of agreement.]

She is a testament to the goodness that human nature can be capable of, I believe, in contrast to what the trials may show.
speakveryclearly: Kanaya looking up, flickering gently, thoughtful. (Learning)

Human nature... the other players talk about that sometimes. I'm not sure what it means. I think that's the idea, though.
souredsweet: jackandtink (that's nice dear)

[personal profile] souredsweet 2013-10-07 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
Mm. It's a difficult thing to explain to someone who does not already know of it... Many believe that human nature is capable of unimaginable good and evil alike; what wins out often depends on the particular person or circumstance.
speakveryclearly: Kanaya rendered with ugly realism, staring at the viewer like rotten meat. (Undead)

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-10-07 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)
When you put it like that... it sounds kind of meaningless, doesn't it?

Not to belittle your explanation... I just mean that in such boundaries it's hard to rule any particular behavior as within or outside the realm of human nature, if that makes sense.

I do not find it belittling. [a small smile.] It is the wide range itself that some might consider human nature. Not every creature out there is capable of displaying boundless grace and thorough wickedness.

Still, that is only one definition. There are some who may say that it is human nature to be kind, or others who say that it is human nature to be cruel, self-serving and foolish. To me, it seems as if this is set up to determine which is the "true" human nature.
