week 2 - trial

week two trial

[At 9 AM precisely, the old grandfather clock chimes once again, and the doors to the drawing room are opened. They will remain open until everyone has come inside, after which they will shut behind them. It is not possible to leave on your own, although perhaps if you have a specific purpose the hostess will allow you to go, as long as you are accompanied by a partner.

The room is set up comfortably, with several tables by the fireplace set out to assist with the trial. The Hostess will also remain in a seat near the fireplace, next to the scales on the mantle. At lunch, the doors will open to bring in a large meal on an automatically rolling buffet, and at 3 PM, tea and finger sandwiches will be served. You'll be able to enjoy the trial in comfort, of course, but the information cards set out on tables will not allow you to forget your true purpose here.

At 7 PM, the trial will adjourn for the day. Players will be escorted by the Hostess to the ballroom, where dinner and wine will be served until 10 PM, at which point players will be required to return to their wings in groups with their wingmates and will be locked in their bedrooms until 8:30 AM the following morning.]

Something's been bothering me about this.

If you climb up leaving dirt on the wall, wouldn't you leave bloodstains, as well? Especially if you have yet to wash it off.

How do you go about cleaning blood off walls?

Oh.

That's...that's a really good point.
hollowheart: (A revelation in the light of day)

[personal profile] hollowheart 2013-10-05 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
You can't be inconspicuous with washing an outside walls, and the blood wouldn't come out that way.
obsideo: (✖ look with your eyes)

[personal profile] obsideo 2013-10-05 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)
So...either the walls aren't right, or the killer didn't have blood on them.
hollowheart: (Default)

[personal profile] hollowheart 2013-10-05 07:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Or the killer had left through another way.

Well. What if they didn't have blood on them? If the wounds were all inflicted on the body after death, it would be simple enough to cover yourself with something disposable and carve away to your heart's content.
humanic: (study)

[personal profile] humanic 2013-10-05 08:10 pm (UTC)(link)
But where's this something disposable? I think by now we can assume that the killer escaped by climbing into one of the bathrooms. So where would they have dumped a bloody jacket or whatever? It's not in any of their rooms and I think someone would have noticed them carrying it around in the mansion. Maybe they dumped it outside before climbing back up, but I checked the pond and there's nothing there.

What about the stables? Has anyone checked there yet?
humanic: (study)

[personal profile] humanic 2013-10-05 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Poland's alibi claims he was in the stable at 10 AM, so assuming she was killed before then and he didn't do it, he should have seen something. Of course, we can't be certain he isn't lying, but it doesn't seem likely seeing as how he doesn't have access to either the Sapphire or Opal bathrooms.
inthebones: (Talk down)

[personal profile] inthebones 2013-10-05 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm thinking more 'thin tablecloth' than jacket. Roll it up into a ball and hide it underneath your clothes when you enter - then stuff it into the bottom of a trash can.
humanic: (study)

[personal profile] humanic 2013-10-05 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
They'd have to get the tablecloth somewhere though. Did anyone notice one missing?
throe: (†‡† (ritualz))

[personal profile] throe 2013-10-05 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh, strange. It seems like a lot of trouble to climb up onto the window, stamp the dirt off boots, and then run to be rid of everything at the stable anyway. Unless she was killed right after he left, but it doesn't seem likely... probability isn't a factor in this equation.

For all we know, any dirty clothes could just be hiding in that manmade hole by the fence, but if we still haven't found anything in the mansion yet other than Kanaya's dress upon the discovery of the victim's body. Where else could it possibly be?
humanic: (thoughtful)

[personal profile] humanic 2013-10-05 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe there's a way they could have killed without getting any blood on them at all?

Like, if they dropped something on her from the window...but I guess that wouldn't explain all the stab wounds.

She's right. If they climbed away... they couldn't have touched the body at all. Not whilst it was bleeding at least...

...and if they did clean it off, why leave the dirt? How would you leave the dirt. Cleaning up half the tracks doesn't even make sense...
vytis: (oh tell me why)

[personal profile] vytis 2013-10-05 06:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Unless there's a way for them to have cleaned it all off of them in the garden, maybe they didn't have any blood on them?
terriblesister: ((srs) concern)

[personal profile] terriblesister 2013-10-05 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Then there'd be evidence of that too, wouldn't there?
vytis: (oh tell me why)

[personal profile] vytis 2013-10-05 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Evidence of them washing it off? Yes, unless they did it right next to Minatsuki's body, you'd think there'd be some sign of it in the garden.

...So I suppose we're left with them not having any blood on them?
terriblesister: ((srs) ...)

[personal profile] terriblesister 2013-10-05 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
...It's the only way that makes sense.

But then that means they can't have caused any of those cuts...
vytis: (but the ones I aim to pleaseth)

[personal profile] vytis 2013-10-05 07:01 pm (UTC)(link)
If we assume that, then there has to have been a way for them to have killed her without cutting her up. Maybe we should reexamine the body.

[General "we", Yuzu, don't worry.]
terriblesister: ((srs) I have a bad feeling)

[personal profile] terriblesister 2013-10-05 07:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I... I don't think I could help with that...
vytis: (life's messy so I clarify it)

[personal profile] vytis 2013-10-05 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't worry, I'm sure no one would force you to deal with a dead body. [He smiles reassuringly.] I'll do it and see if I can find anything.

There would have been a lot of blood. ( Thinking aloud and then, ) What if they didn't have to clean up any blood to begin with?

( Twisting his face and trying to think. )

They could have done some cleaning up before climbing? Say, they killed her and then put on a jacket after? Or they were able to change clothes...?

( He has no idea what he's talking about. )
hollowheart: by seraphita @ DW (pic#6804158)

[personal profile] hollowheart 2013-10-05 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
And why would they go through all that effort and not clean off the mud tracks, as well?
pasodoble: » matador (Default)

[personal profile] pasodoble 2013-10-05 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Time? ( Hmm. ) But if they had the time to clean half the scene then...

I don't know!
