[An arch of the eyebrow.]

What?

...Oh, the banter about the underlinen? As much as I'm inclined to agree with Miss Carter, I'm perfectly aware that my unmentionables went untouched. I meant to speak of something else.

As you are, of course, a well-mannered child, and as your parents no doubt attempted to instill some semblance of etiquette in you, I trust you touched only the things in my desk drawer that were pertinent to the case?

(here we thought it was Ciel but it was Beast Boy all along i mean yes i saw nothing)

[Kaoru nods along, though there's a mildly confused look at "governess".]

To teach children is a noble profession, indeed. Though I am afraid I do not know the first term, I assume it involves much of the same... You must have patience and talent, to be successful with such a thing.
humanic: (oh yeah?)

[personal profile] humanic 2013-09-30 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
Who, me? Uh, yeah, obviously, I definitely wouldn't be that rude...

...yeah, no. Come on, have you met me? My dad's a cop. I mean yeah, he's tried to teach me manners, but more importantly he taught me that a murder case isn't exactly a great time for them. [what a terrible lie his dad would cry tears of happiness if only his son could stay away from crime scenes] You could have been hiding something in there, I wasn't about to risk letting a culprit walk free just because I did a shoddy job of searching their room.

[A shrug.]

If it helps keep me and my friends and family alive, I'll be whatever it takes. Though I'd like to think I'm actually an optimist when it comes to believing that things might eventually turn out for the best, I'm just cynical when it comes to people and the terrible life choices they make.
allice: official ((smile) There's a babe)

[personal profile] allice 2013-09-30 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
[She smiles.]

Oh, don't get me wrong. I won't kill them. But I can't promise I won't break a leg. Maybe both. And arms too while I'm at it. Just the bare minimum.

[She turns to look at Touko and shakes her head slowly.]

Barely. [She eyes the tea and mutters a small "thank you", before carefully moving it by her plate.] I don't know what this person trapping us is trying to play at, but this has gotten out of hand.

No, but really, he can't help but laugh some. Color Spain impressed.
)

Thats right, you've received training before, haven't you?

[She listens quietly to Stiles without a twitch in her expression, keeping her eyes trained on him, and sighs quietly when he finishes.]

You're telling me. [Her eyes look back down to the bracelet for a moment and then back to him, her gaze conflicted.] If I knew a way to remove it I would get it off already. But it's too risky. The drugs loaded in this bracelet will kill me within minutes if the bracelet is triggered and the only way I was told it can come off is if my heart rate drops to zero. I have no way to prove it, but I trust the threats of the person who put it on me to know they aren't likely to be lying.

...Besides, better it stay on me than it coming off and someone trying to steal it for their own use.
inthebones: (Talk down)

[personal profile] inthebones 2013-09-30 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
((drat you figured out our secret =O =O =O ))

A governess is a sort of combination teacher/nanny. I lived in the household and attended to all the affairs of the children so that their parents could get about with their much more interesting lives in peace.

[A brief pause.]

I remain convinced that everyone ought to pass a test before they're allowed to have children. 'Will you have time for them?' would top the list.

In any case, 'being good with children' isn't so much a talent or a skill as it is being sensible enough not to condescend to them or to underestimate or misjudge them.
allice: sprite ((norm) Who leads a life of danger)

[personal profile] allice 2013-09-30 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. I know plenty of ways to kill a person, but I'm restrained enough to know how to just get them on the edge. And anyone who tries to attack anyone else deserves to be put on the edge in my book.
humanic: (confused)

[personal profile] humanic 2013-09-30 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
What, you don't think I'm cute? Anyway, I'd say it looks like they're rewarding or punishing us based on how much we participate in the trial, but then again I'm pretty sure I saw certain people taking naps the entire time who aren't on the list, so what do I know? [SPAIN...]

Yeah, the whole audience thing doesn't sound legit to me. I mean just putting aside the fact that there are supposedly people out there getting off on watching innocent people be murdered because that's actually pretty believable based off of the number of crazies I've met before, I've searched this place extensively and I haven't found a single hidden camera yet.

[personal profile] humanic 2013-09-30 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
[He nibbles on a thumb thoughtfully.]

Well, we've got a girl here who can evidently transform objects, so I'd worry about getting it off at all first before thinking about how to dispose of it.

If it's just your heart rate dropping to zero...maybe there's a way we can do that without killing you? If we could start it back up again right after it comes off...
inthebones: (Threaten)

[personal profile] inthebones 2013-09-30 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
[She had expected as much of course.]

Those are my private notes, you understand. And I expect them to remain that way. People can be very irrational about this sort of thing, and I don't need Mr. Tanaka rambling at me about how credible his magic is or anything of the like.

...I suppose I shall have to alter your entry to something much less flattering in light of this new knowledge, anyway.
inthebones: (Superior)

[personal profile] inthebones 2013-09-30 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
The way I see it, I have an infinite amount of room to be pleasantly surprised and no possibility of being disappointed.

...Unfortunately, the former doesn't happen quite as often as I hope it to.
souredsweet: mewtube (onward still)

[personal profile] souredsweet 2013-09-30 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
Ah... Not to slight your own skill, but it does seem a sad thing, should a parent not be able, capable or willing to raise their own child. [Kaoru's attention returns to the fruit on the plate for a second, halfheartedly slicing off a piece of melon with the side of the fork. it remains uneaten, though.]

I suppose that is fair enough advice. I have not been able to meet many children in my life, so it still seems a talent to some degree, to me. But that would just be common sense, I'd think - treating a person not by their age, but by their ability.
humanic: (unsure)

[personal profile] humanic 2013-09-30 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
Relax, I'm good at keeping secrets. Should be one of the things under my skills actually, given the number of times I've had to hide something.

[He pouts.] Aw, come on! Don't tell me you wouldn't have done the same if I'd been a suspect and it'd been my room you were looking through.

[personal profile] pasodoble 2013-09-30 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
Hm? ( Spain was actually talking about the girls and not really paranoid American teens buut ) It isn't surprising, is it? I'm sure you're very popular back home, aren't you?

( He wasn't asleep for that long. Spain has no idea who you're talking about! )

... Where have you looked exactly?
humanic: (smile)

[personal profile] humanic 2013-09-30 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
[Okay, he just has to laugh and laugh and laugh at that. Eventually, he manages to stop laughing.]

God, I wish. Figures the one time my rambling makes me popular is when we're trapped in a murder house.

I've searched everywhere in my room - not exactly comfortable with the idea of who knows how many viewers watching me while I...sleep. The drawing room too - if there's gonna be cameras anywhere, it's gotta be where we hold our trials.

[personal profile] pasodoble 2013-09-30 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
And if no one dies, there can't be a trial for anyone else to die at! That's a great idea--! ( Oh, wait. ) But I hope you aren't attacked.

... Or anyone else now, really.
allice: sprite ((hmm) Another chance she takes)

[personal profile] allice 2013-09-30 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe. I'd be willing to try it if we knew for sure we could restart my heart, but it'd have to be done fast before I suffer brain damage from lack of oxygen. But if we can't be certain then it'll be safer to leave it on my wrist, as backwards as that may seem. ...I don't exactly want anyone to be punished for trying to help me, or be dead for it.

I hope so too. But I feel like someone may inevitably try, just as Bernkastel did.

[Susan herself has finished her own breakfast some time ago. It seems a murder trial isn't enough to affect her appetite.]

It happens very often, actually.

[A slight sigh.]

Sometimes, a child is nothing more than a symbol. I can understand how it becomes that way, but it's very unfair to everyone involved.

...In any case, we aren't here to discuss my prior occupations. Was there a reason you wanted to know?

[personal profile] pasodoble 2013-09-30 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
There certainly is a... type of charm to your words. ( For more information see: Spanish Lip Service For Foreigners )

Hmm... What if the audience isn't watching at all? You know, before there was television, there was radio and someone would report everything that had happened that day. It would explain why the "audience" chose so many cute people.
humanic: (study)

[personal profile] humanic 2013-09-30 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
...I've actually done it before. Stopped my own heart on purpose, I mean. You're right that it'd be way risky if we don't have a guarantee that you'd come back, especially if it'd count as a murder. [He pauses.] But since there can only be one murder a week, there'd be a time period where it couldn't count as one because of the rules....

May's card says she can heal, and the countries probably picked up first aid if they've really been around for thousands of years. It's something worth thinking about, at least.
