week 1 - trial

[At 9 AM precisely, the old grandfather clock chimes once again, and the doors to the drawing room are opened. They will remain open until everyone has come inside, after which they will shut behind them. It is not possible to leave on your own, although perhaps if you have a specific purpose the hostess will allow you to go. The room is set up comfortably, with several tables by the fireplace set out to assist with the trial. The Hostess will also remain in a seat near the fireplace, next to the scales on the mantle. At lunch, the doors will open to bring in a large meal on an automatically rolling buffet, and at 3 PM, tea and finger sandwiches will be served. You'll be able to enjoy the trial in comfort, of course, but the information cards set out on tables will not allow you to forget your true purpose here.]

[Susan can do this for days.]

Oh, yes, the dragons. I forgot all about those.
Perhaps each dragon represents a new branch of alchemy. We should have him explain this to our victims in-depth.
[And thus Susan, May, and Gundam form the unstoppable murder trio.]
I mean... persuadees.

Have you ever met any dragons, Miss Susan?

As a matter of fact, I haven't. But only a few years before I moved to my current place of residence, it was, in fact, attacked by a dragon. The Watch did a fine job with the situation, as I've heard.
...I've seen Lady Sybil's swamp dragons, though. I don't think anyone's escaped that particular pleasantry.

[A happy sigh as she gazes out into the distance at something only she can see.] When we get out of here, I would love it if either you or Mr. Gundam could show me a real dragon! All the books I have read claim they are fictional, but I know they're wrong! If chimeras can exist, then surely dragons do too!

[May looks so happy. Susan bites her lip.]
Lady Ramkin certainly would agree with that assessment, I think.
[She was inclined to think they were more like particularly large, scaly pests.]
I should be happy to show you one if we have the opportunity, though. They aren't dangerous if you behave properly.
[That did bring a question to mind... They were so occupied with the murders and the executions that they hadn't thought about what would happen upon finishing the game. Surely they wouldn't be sent home knowing that a place like this existed.]

[She beams.] I will be sure to be on my best behavior, then! It would be an honor to meet the legendary creature that we have named one of the principles of alkahestry after. [and the truth is revealed May is just a huge science nerd]

[She supposes Sybil Ramkin must know she exists, given their respective titles, but their meeting had never seemed to be necessary.]
And I should warn you, May, that swamp dragons are quite small. In comparison to an actual dragon, it won't be very impressive at all. Real dragons are much too dangerous to be allowed to exist, let alone to pull out for show.
...I'm sure somebody made some sketches of that time, though.
