If all else fails, of course, we can go about the house and check every painting. We do have three days. ...Two and a half.

Yeah. You'd think they wouldn't make it that easy. Safe behind the painting is the oldest cliche in the book. But whatever!

Don't forget, if this is the location of the safe, we still need to decipher the lock or the combination. And while I always preferred math to the arts, it seems as if it might be a bit more difficult.

Right. Let's narrow this down and then start looking, we need as much time to crack it as possible.

[A nod. ...And after a bit, when the 'portrait' clue is known to all...

Somnolence means sleep, of course. Sleep, old, and... ruler? Perhaps it makes a word somehow like 'poor' and 'trait' did.

[personal profile] obsideo 2013-11-22 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. Maybe it's a name? If it's a portrait, it's of somebody.

( Did someone say sleep. )

Siesta? A nap?

( Wow just talking about it makes him sleepy. )

[personal profile] humanic 2013-11-22 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, that solved it.

Obviously we're looking for an old napkin.

[personal profile] pasodoble 2013-11-22 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Or maybe we should take a thirty minute break and the answer will come to us in a dream.

( He's trying, really. Trying to get a nap time. )
humanic: (Default)

[personal profile] humanic 2013-11-22 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
...sure, why not? It'll probably work better than anything else we've tried so far.

[personal profile] pasodoble 2013-11-22 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
( And wow, after solving it with Felicia, Spain's mood drops like woah )

Or we'll have nightmares.
humanic: (unsure)

[personal profile] humanic 2013-11-22 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Just don't kill anyone this time because you think you're gonna turn into Napoleon or something. [Too soon? NAAAAH he didn't even know Clyde or Latvia that well anyway]

You don't think he's the spirit haunting this house, do you?

( Internally screaming. )
humanic: (Default)

[personal profile] humanic 2013-11-23 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
I dunno, did he really hate puns?

It would actually explain a lot though. Like why Sonia got her horse back. Doesn't that one really famous painting of Napoleon have him on his horse? Maybe he wanted to ride one again. [no he's just making this all up because he wants to see how Spain will react]

He was humorless.

( Always angry, no fun, awful person. 0/10 would not recommend. )

[personal profile] pasodoble 2013-11-23 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
( Wait wait suddenly everything is making sense. Just look at Spain's eyes light up as the last pieces of the puzzle fall in place in his mind. )

Has anyone seen a portrait like that? I could be wrong...

( Do you hear the people sing singing the song of angry men it's the singing of Spaniards that won't get tricked into sending their entire army to Denmark so France can invade Portugal through Spain to actually invade Spain again. )

Has anyone seen any ugly paintings? ( Hmm what's this nagging feeling in the back of Spain's mind like he's been conveniently ignoring something for a long time. ) ... It would be hard to miss.

I'm not sure I could ID Napoleon off the top of my head, other than him being the short guy. Do you want to go look together?
pasodoble: » matador (Default)

[personal profile] pasodoble 2013-11-22 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
You can leave that to me.

( He would recognize Napoleon right away. )

Unless anyone else wants to come, I'm ready whenever you are.

...We still need to open the safe. We should all come and try to solve the combination there.

Excellent job, by the way, Miss Marlow. Whoever Napoleon is, I'm going to assume he wasn't big on naps, judging from Spain's reactions.
