Either someone's incredibly unlucky or the Hostess spent her time practicing making it dangerously close just in case she was planning this would happen.
Still... [ She regards the paper again, raising her eyebrows a bit. ] We have been waiting for a case where the victim writes the murderers name and, if this doesn't mean anything math-wise, we just might end up being the lucky ones.
You never know, maybe they really want us to end this. It would make for a pretty boring performance though... not even the audience would be impressed.
I'm with you on that one. Think of all the mysteries that would be solved if we opened it or what we'll find in it when we do. It just may have everything we need to figure this whole place out... and then some! Like something to grant the winners as a last parting gift.
The only parting gift I need is the gift of parting. ...From this place, I mean.
Shall we focus on finding the vault and put this aside for the moment, then? Annie seems to think the recipe is relevant - I don't doubt she's correct. The entire thing is meant to be solved....
I think we should keep it in mind, at least. It has some sort of meaning wether it's a name or a number, but like all other clues we've come across it might not mean much until later anyway. The safe is all we have to go on for now. If we figure where it is and how to open it, it bound to lead us exactly where we need to go to win this game.
Mordswell has a lot to hide apparently and I'm sure plenty of things will show up along the way now that we have more access.
...Or, of course, it may be as transparent as it appears to be.
We need to 'prove beyond a doubt' who the Mastermind is, though. Whether or not that means collecting as much evidence as we can or whether that means there really will be something exposing the truth, we need to keep searching.
I'm inclined to think the entire diary is just a work of fiction, honestly. The bloodstains are a little too conveniently placed.
You mean like the Mastermind is doing it all for show to keep us searching somewhere else instead?
[ Rapture seems more fascinated by this prospect than she should be. ]
You know... it is strange that we would only find it now. With how much everyone tried to find hidden rooms and the other secrets of this manor, you think someone would have discovered the diary already. The game runners could have conveniently placed it there for the final trial, but it does come off as very suspicious.
Maybe some of us should focus on the diary and the rest of us can look for all the places where the Mastermind would have gone. If we find their trail that way, we might have some luck too.
...I wasn't going quite that far; simply that I doubt Mordswell was any sort of historical figure but more along the lines of... additional details for the sake of this game.
The smoking room was barred until very recently, but we have glanced around before while voting.
What places do you have in mind? There doesn't seem to be much of a trail - they came into the Drawing Room, shot the Hostess in the middle of the night, and returned to their rooms.
[ Rapture clearly revels in taking things further when it comes to more enticing outcomes. ]
But if our dear Hostess is involved with this game as much as we are, maybe she really is his daughter and who he's speaking of, which means he may not be entirely made up. Perhaps just a bit... exaggerated for the sake of a brilliant ending performance.
We could always see if that locked door by the Ruby Wing is accessible now. Maybe they felt like framing Alice. [ She shrugs. ] Or we could just try to find a passageway that looks like it's been used more than once so we can figure out where they've been going this entire time.
...Why on earth would she be involving herself to this extent if she were related to the man in this diary? If I were her, I'd want nothing to do with any of this.
I've tried almost every key on that door - unless you think they've opened everything just for the end.
[ She goes over to the paper with the rule and reads aloud. ]
'You have the means to access every area the Mastermind has had access to since the game's beginning,' right? Who's to say that figuring out where they've gone throughout the game won't give us a clue to who it might be?
I thought we were talking about the smoking room, but alright. It can't hurt to rattle the door for a bit. Perhaps halfway through, the staircase turns into an extra secret passage with all sorts of weaponry lying about.
It doesn't hurt to try at least. [ Does she just want to walk around the mansion and try to find neat passageways and rooms? Yes. Yes she does. ] The Mastermind probably helped move things along smoothly in some way that involved getting around the manor quicker. There's bound to be something worth looking for in all the hidden places.
It's strange, isn't it? All of the suspects were suspects for a reason usually due to some item involved, but... even if the game is in the Mastermind's favor, it wouldn't be that obvious... would it?
Unless it is so obvious that we're supposed to think it's not meant to be obvious. Or maybe Lithuania just has poor luck now.
We should still probably search his room... just in case. [ Because it is better than solving puzzles that make absolutely no sense to her. ]

[Susan will slowly revolve the paper around for a moment before turning it back to its number orientation.]
We do have three days. Let's open this 'vault' and see what comes of it. It isn't as if there's anything to lose.

That gun had to have come from somewhere.

Perhaps the Mastermind could teleport at will. That's the bias the game had for them.
...There is one person's room we've never searched, though, I think, by dint of never being a suspect.
[whoops liet again.]
