I believe I already know what happened, but very well.
I woke up around seven and went down to breakfast after getting ready for the day. I remained in the ballroom until breakfast was over - as it was Wednesday, I wanted to be sure none of my companions had gone missing. Afterwards, Miss Kaoru and I prepared some food in the kitchen - I often help her with her cooking, as I am able to use my alkahestry to construct ingredients that are not available here. In my country, it is traditional to leave food for the dead as offerings, so we decided to have a picnic at the chapel during lunch and leave tokens as a memorial for those who have died in this game.
We did not plan a set time, but I left early to prepare the chapel for our picnic while she was still in the kitchen. So there is no way Miss Kaoru could have gotten there and attacked Beat before I did.
Ugh, this is horrible. I'm a musician, not a detective! [ She sighs frustratingly and frowns. ] Unless there was an underground passage with a car, it just seems so confusing.
Beat was acting strange, there's no explanation for that yet unless he suddenly snapped and decided to attack the first person he saw that morning! Even if you killed him in self-defense, someone might have still been out to get him in the first place.
It may be that he was desperate for the incentive this week and simply attacked the first person who came upon him in an isolated location. The power to bring back the dead...I do not believe such a thing is possible, but I know it would be tempting to many.
Um...I may have passed by a few people, but I'm afraid I didn't really notice who. I didn't think anything would happen, so I was not as vigilant as I should have been.
The kid wore a Frankenstein's monster outfit covered completely in green paint for a week straight. That'd be enough to drive someone berserk then but not now.
Look at his skills, it's pretty clear he wouldn't be dumb enough to randomly attack someone in the middle of the day without reason. Sure, the chapel's a ways away, but plenty of people go there early in the morning. Something had to have happened to him.
Why go alone on a Wednesday though? Especially when you're on the bottom lists? Even knowing Kaoru was going to come later, it just seems like it's cutting it way too close.
Miss Kaoru and I did talk about our plans in public. He may have overheard us at breakfast.
[She stares at her feet, looking ashamed.] That...that was my fault. I have been on the dispensable list often and with my list of skills, I did not think there was any reason to worry. Xiao Mei also accompanies me wherever I go, and she is just a good a chaperone as anyone else. I did not even consider that I might wind up being the killer in this situation.
[ Darn these animals. Why can't they just make Rapture's life easier? ]
That rules that out then. There's more to this than just an act of self-defense. Beat may have thought he could easily go after you, rather than Alice, but... his actions just don't make sense.
None of it does! Ugh. If Riot was here, this would be a lot easier.

Did anyone see you leave the manor?
