Miss May—? [Kaoru, who had been in the process of heading to the table to fill out the alibi card, freezes immediately upon hearing that.]

[Her eyes well up. Kaoru finding out about what she'd done had been one of the things she'd most dreaded.]

I-I'm sorry, Miss Kaoru! I should have told you or someone yesterday, but I was just so scared--!

[souredsweet]

Miss May, do not apologize! [the table is immediately abandoned in favor of rushing to May's side, where Kaoru drops to both knees beside her, one hand on her shoulder.]

But we cannot... If it was in self-defense, how can any of us vote for you? It cannot be done!

[pandacea]

[She sniffles and buries her face in Kaoru's shoulder.]

I'm sorry...I wish there was some other way, but if one of us has to die.... You and Mr. Gundam and Miss Rapture have been so kind, all of you need to survive this horrible place.

[souredsweet]

[Kaoru raises both hands to bring May into a gentle hug, one soothingly patting her back.]

Perhaps... we can talk to Miss Doris. [the first time Kaoru has ever used her name since discovering it.] They cannot possibly expect us to condemn you, and if they do, then it may be time to take Miss Sto Helit's suggestion to heart and protest this vote.

[Her eyes widen.] Please don't do anything rash! If any of you were to suffer Miss Yuzu's fate for not voting...I cannot let it happen!

But what if we all abstain from voting? What can they do? They cannot possibly kill every last one of us. If their precious ratings mean so much to them, surely...
