WEEK 3 - TRIAL

week three trial

[At 9 AM precisely, the old grandfather clock chimes once again, and the doors to the drawing room are opened. They will remain open until everyone has come inside, after which they will shut behind them. It is not possible to leave on your own, although perhaps if you have a specific purpose the hostess will allow you to go, as long as you are accompanied by a partner.

The room is set up comfortably, with several tables by the fireplace set out to assist with the trial. The Hostess will also remain in a seat near the fireplace, next to the scales on the mantle. At lunch, the doors will open to bring in a large meal on an automatically rolling buffet, and at 3 PM, tea and finger sandwiches will be served. You'll be able to enjoy the trial in comfort, of course, but the information cards set out on tables will not allow you to forget your true purpose here.

At 7 PM, the trial will adjourn for the day. Players will be escorted by the Hostess to the ballroom, where dinner and wine will be served until 10 PM, at which point players will be required to return to their wings in groups with their wingmates and will be locked in their bedrooms until 8:30 AM the following morning.]

I mean...they'd have to stab him with something else to keep the elevator door open...unless Beat really is the killer and used it to prop the door open while he flew up with Dave's body.....

...yeah, this makes no sense. Would you even be able to use a sword to keep the door open like that?
inthebones: (Skeptical)

[personal profile] inthebones 2013-10-13 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
It does seem an unlikely scenario, but then, I thought that about someone jumping out a window, too.

[Susan still doesn't believe that should be possible.]

Does that narrow it down at all, then? Someone who thought Dave might be inclined to trust them?

...I suppose Siren is his neighbor.
humanic: (ugh)

[personal profile] humanic 2013-10-13 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
Ugh, even if that was the case, if we eliminate the suspects who'd be good with a blade we wind up coming back to Beat and Siren again.

Was there anything else in the kitchen? Anything at all?

The strength of the doors would need to be tested to make certain, but unless only the hilt was used to allow a small gap that could be pried open further from the inside, I do not believe it highly likely.

Daily searches thrice a day, then?

Actually, I think we should agree that we should all simply sit in the ballroom and never leave. Bathroom visits will be supervised by at least two others.

[Susan sounds dead serious.]

Maybe so he wouldn't have too many lies to keep a track of? Hopefully he admitted to it because he isn't the killer.

[personal profile] humanic 2013-10-13 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
Seeing as how there seems to be a huge prejudice against human teenagers in this mansion, I'd be okay with that. [also...sounds dead serious...]
notyetlost: (lame lame lame)

[personal profile] notyetlost 2013-10-13 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
... okay. But. Um.

[Poland flails a bit, he really wanted to solve it this time!]

Erg...
humanic: (Default)

[personal profile] humanic 2013-10-13 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
Well, if we ever have a murder where someone's cut in half, we'll know who to look for. Except then it'd probably be someone framing you.

So how strong are you anyway? Wanna try picking me up and flying around?
notyetlost: (booooring)

[personal profile] notyetlost 2013-10-13 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
Who are you voting for anyways... [Let Poland copy the answer off you Spain.]

[personal profile] pasodoble 2013-10-13 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
Who gets a free sword and thinks, "Ah, yes. This would be a great way to keep a door open."

( He's so offended by this now. He's basically just ranting. )

But I don't think it's impossible. Perhaps not length wise because it could always slip but if it was by the hilt... Or if the blade was strong enough, you could pry it that way.
humanic: (oh yeah?)

[personal profile] humanic 2013-10-13 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, chalk that one up to a swing and a miss then. So the doors were probably kept open some other way then.
souredsweet: mewtube (right through you)

[personal profile] souredsweet 2013-10-13 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
[Kaoru understands that the balance between too plain and too outlandish is a hard one to strike, especially after the last trial...]

Miss Siren and Miss Belarus are the least imposing physically-speaking, but Miss Siren is one of the most powerful contenders by way of her abilities. Mr. Altman would reasonably be the least harmful... Still, Miss Siren is in a very opportune location for carrying this out. I do not know if Mr. Strider was acquainted with any of the rest.
inthebones: (Talk down)

[personal profile] inthebones 2013-10-13 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
As a matter of fact, there were rather a lot of pans. ...And pots. You mustn't leave out the pots. Perhaps they were used to prop open the door.

[helpful sarcasm aside, Susan exhales slightly]

What separates Beat and Siren? Intelligence, of course, but is that really enough to go off?

Suck it! You're the one wantin' to punch me, so come on and do it, yo!

[Shadow Beat may or may not be trying to grab Poland and give him a noogie...]
souredsweet: breadcrusts (pleasantries)

[personal profile] souredsweet 2013-10-13 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
[oh no Kaoru doesn't want Poland to feel badly...!]

There might be something to the theory of skilled warriors being involved, though, at least on the part of the attacker. Despite the fact that stabs rather than slashes indicate a lack of proper knowledge on katana-wielding, the attacker surely had strength and physical control in order to refrain from piercing all the way through the body with such a long blade.

( And touching his neck thoughtfully, )

I can't say. I really don't know.

What?

[This is a perfectly acceptable way to be greeted.]
souredsweet: jackandtink (Default)

[personal profile] souredsweet 2013-10-13 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
Assuming that the doors were held open at all, I believe so, yes.

I can't say for anyone else but I'd never spoken to Dave before.

[personal profile] notyetlost 2013-10-13 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
But you're like totally sure it's the katana?

[Because shuriken sounds pretty deadly too.]
notyetlost: (that's NOT okay)

[personal profile] notyetlost 2013-10-13 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
[Augh screw it.]

Nothing, milord.

( Obviously teasing but really, Spain has other things to worry about right now ok. You are not important at the moment, Poland!!! )
