WEEK 3 - TRIAL

week three trial

[At 9 AM precisely, the old grandfather clock chimes once again, and the doors to the drawing room are opened. They will remain open until everyone has come inside, after which they will shut behind them. It is not possible to leave on your own, although perhaps if you have a specific purpose the hostess will allow you to go, as long as you are accompanied by a partner.

The room is set up comfortably, with several tables by the fireplace set out to assist with the trial. The Hostess will also remain in a seat near the fireplace, next to the scales on the mantle. At lunch, the doors will open to bring in a large meal on an automatically rolling buffet, and at 3 PM, tea and finger sandwiches will be served. You'll be able to enjoy the trial in comfort, of course, but the information cards set out on tables will not allow you to forget your true purpose here.

At 7 PM, the trial will adjourn for the day. Players will be escorted by the Hostess to the ballroom, where dinner and wine will be served until 10 PM, at which point players will be required to return to their wings in groups with their wingmates and will be locked in their bedrooms until 8:30 AM the following morning.]

Are you offering then?

Three weeks into this game and you think someone is going to consider that pushing and stabbing someone might be 'too much?'

[The body has been brought into the room for examination, as is the norm with these trials, apparently.

Considering Lithuania's already been carting it around, he's going to examine it himself. He's going to check to see what Dave was carrying--does he have his keys? Anything unusual?]

Yes!

[personal profile] vytis 2013-10-10 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
[And Lithuania asks, because the worst she can do is say she won't answer, right?]

It doesn't matter, so maybe the killer didn't choose that one.

[Knowing what he knows now, Latvia hopes he can avoid the commotions from last week. He still thinks that any nation suspects would be innocent but proving that to everyone else will take more work. At least he has a good idea of where to start this week]

There was a blade near the body, right? That he'd probably been stabbed with?

Has anyone moved it? Surely the first thing to do would be to check the handle for fingerprints...
throe: (crim3s)

[personal profile] throe 2013-10-10 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Well then, what do you think would constitute as 'just right' for this case?
humanic: (study)

[personal profile] humanic 2013-10-10 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it wouldn't have been hard to hide the blood if he'd been stabbed in the shaft. All the killer'd have to do would be to take off their shoes and wash them or get rid of them or something.

You're right that we don't know how they managed to get out of the shaft afterwards though. I mean, it probably wouldn't be that hard to climb out using the door in the kitchen, but how'd they get it open from the inside?
terriblesister: ((srs) storms)

[personal profile] terriblesister 2013-10-10 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
...[Yuzu swallows tightly.]

The stabbing happened first. It's the only way it makes sense.
inthebones: (Skeptical)

[personal profile] inthebones 2013-10-10 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
As nice as that would be, how in the world are we supposed to check for fingerprints when the fingerprinting kit is a prize for a murder?
throe: (†‡† (ritualz))

[personal profile] throe 2013-10-10 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Wouldn't there be more traces of blood if that was the case?
inthebones: (Talk down)

[personal profile] inthebones 2013-10-10 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
It's always possible they took something entirely irrelevant to the murder - one prize to help commit the deed, one prize to help stay sane in this house. At this point, we don't really have the means to narrow it down sufficiently.
inthebones: (Smile)

[personal profile] inthebones 2013-10-10 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Hm.

Perhaps we can ask about each of them in detail, and see what she says.

'Is the chloroform bottle self-refilling' and so on and so forth.
balzams: (Uneasy ● Confronted)

[personal profile] balzams 2013-10-10 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Well... I know it's not as good as the real thing but isn't there something else we can use to check? Like flour or some other fine powder?

It may be a little rough but surely it's worth a try?
souredsweet: mewtube (thin-skinned)

[personal profile] souredsweet 2013-10-10 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
[one more joining the "I hate talking about this" train...]

I, too, am inclined to think they have either selected the map or the skeleton key. The fact that Mr. Clyde found blood in Dave's room at all is... Well, it does not line up. Unless the killer actually attacked Dave elsewhere and took the picture back to his room, but I cannot say why that would happen.

[Siren has neatly scrawled out her whereabouts on the sheet of paper below her card... and left a small pile of business cards as well. Please feel free to take one if you have not gotten one from her already!]

Tuesday:

8:30 - 8:55 | Woke up and prepared for the day.

8:55 - 9:00 | Picked out something for breakfast in the Ballroom.

9:00- 9:30 | Ate breakfast in the Conservatory.

9:30 - 12:00 | Library. Spoke with Miss Leonhardt for a period of time.

12:00 - 1:00 | Lunch in the Ballroom

1:00 - 3:00 | Bedroom for a nap.

3:00 - 5:00 | Reading and snacks in the Drawing Room.

5:00 - 6:30 | Library.

6:30 - 8:00 | Dinner in the Ballroom.

8:00 - 8:30 | Dessert in the Drawing room.

9:30 | I had wanted to take a shower… however the Ruby Wing bathroom smelled odd? From the hallway. I opted to go to bed early.

Wednesday:

7:00 | Woke up.

7:30- 8:00 | Showered and prepared for the day.

8:30 - 9:00 | Breakfast in the Ballroom. Spoke with Miss Aihara.

9:00 - 10:40 | Conservatory

10:40 - onwards | Second floor looking for Mr. Strider. The clock chimed 13 times when I met Mr. Spain in the Drawing room. Mr. Spain and I then investigated the Billiards Room.

----------------

[Siren moves to write down her regret although she seems to be having a hard time coming up with one. Eventually she's settled for two but she can't seem to decide which one is more important.]

I regret that I have not yet completed my mission for Madam Galaxia.

I regret that I did not bring any pickled octopus with me when I came to this house.

...This began with your line of thought, you know.
souredsweet: mewtube (right through you)

[personal profile] souredsweet 2013-10-10 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
[piping up!]

I will not be of any help with fingerprints, but I may be able to determine how much force was used in the attack if I am able to weigh the blade. I can fetch it with you, if it has not yet been moved... It may be beneficial to have it in the room, anyway.
throe: (†‡† (ritualz))

[personal profile] throe 2013-10-10 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
They could have even angled him in a way that would have got less blood on them.

Impressive luck? [ She smirks. ] Or an accomplice maybe? It does seem strange that they could open it from the outside, but not from inside. You have to be able to press the button to do that, don't you?
inthebones: (Condescend)

[personal profile] inthebones 2013-10-10 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know that I'm willing to base our investigation of a murder off flour-based fingerprints, but I suppose it couldn't hurt.

We'd need ink to gauge the suspects' fingerprints as well.
balzams: (Thoughtful ● Serious)

[personal profile] balzams 2013-10-10 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
If we can't get them off without a kit then there was no hope of us getting them with the tools we have now anyway.

We might waste a little time but... It shouldn't be too much. There's ink in the study, isn't there?
balzams: (Uneasy ● Concerned)

[personal profile] balzams 2013-10-10 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Really? You could do that?

It probably would be best to wait until after we've tested the handle but it might help. Someone should get it at least, there might be a clue on the actual weapon...
throe: (crim3s)

[personal profile] throe 2013-10-10 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
That's a no then. [ She shrugs. ] It'll be a nice breath of fresh air, I guess.

You don't at least want to join me? It wouldn't do much if one of us falls though, there might be two murder trials going on if that happens.
