WEEK 3 - TRIAL

week three trial

[At 9 AM precisely, the old grandfather clock chimes once again, and the doors to the drawing room are opened. They will remain open until everyone has come inside, after which they will shut behind them. It is not possible to leave on your own, although perhaps if you have a specific purpose the hostess will allow you to go, as long as you are accompanied by a partner.

The room is set up comfortably, with several tables by the fireplace set out to assist with the trial. The Hostess will also remain in a seat near the fireplace, next to the scales on the mantle. At lunch, the doors will open to bring in a large meal on an automatically rolling buffet, and at 3 PM, tea and finger sandwiches will be served. You'll be able to enjoy the trial in comfort, of course, but the information cards set out on tables will not allow you to forget your true purpose here.

At 7 PM, the trial will adjourn for the day. Players will be escorted by the Hostess to the ballroom, where dinner and wine will be served until 10 PM, at which point players will be required to return to their wings in groups with their wingmates and will be locked in their bedrooms until 8:30 AM the following morning.]

Oh, that. [she forgot about that.]

I thought it looked too flimsy to be used for self defence, so I tested it. It was. That was weeks ago; knives in kitchen are better.

May I ask what you tested it on? Additionally, if you have tested the kitchen knives on anything, may I ask for that? [and then gesturing to a table near the evidence one, where the knife has been temporarily left until it can be deemed useful or useless.]

I will assume that this is in your room for protection. How long have you had it?
mostlymarried: (concern)

[personal profile] mostlymarried 2013-10-11 09:44 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't test it 'on' anything; here, I can show you. [she holds out her hand for the letter opener]

I took that one at the beginning, in case I am attacked at night.

[handing over the letter opener!]

I hope that you will not mind if it stays here for the duration of the trial, in case anyone else wishes to inspect it. The knife, I mean. [since it's pretty clear Dave wasn't stabbed to death with a letter opener.]
mostlymarried: (Hi Liet)

[personal profile] mostlymarried 2013-10-11 09:56 am (UTC)(link)
It is fine. I keep others anyway.

[she takes the letter opener in both hands... and quite simply bends it further.]

This is what I meant. If used, it would crumple, break and twist and I doubt it could stop a blade. It's trash.
souredsweet: mewtube (onward still)

[personal profile] souredsweet 2013-10-11 10:03 am (UTC)(link)
[BELARUS... well at least she's honest about it, and her card does note her strength and skill with knives.]

I see; thank you for clarifying. About the others that you keep, though... are they all of the size and in your room currently?
mostlymarried: (dohohoho)

[personal profile] mostlymarried 2013-10-11 10:05 am (UTC)(link)
No, I carry them. [wouldn't be very useful otherwise]

[personal profile] balzams 2013-10-11 10:09 am (UTC)(link)
I-If you're really not the culprit we should be able to figure it out.

I know you're angry... But acting like no one would trust you isn't going to help. At least trust us... Please?
mostlymarried: (dohohoho)

[personal profile] mostlymarried 2013-10-11 10:11 am (UTC)(link)
I do trust you, I do not know what to do with myself.
balzams: (Uneasy ● Bad feeling)

[personal profile] balzams 2013-10-11 10:11 am (UTC)(link)
I-I was but then the murder happened and...

I thought telling people about it might make me a suspect...

[personal profile] souredsweet 2013-10-11 10:15 am (UTC)(link)
[Belarus.....]

May I see one or two? Just holding them up would be enough.
mostlymarried: (dropstab)

it still amuses me I have actual icons for this

[personal profile] mostlymarried 2013-10-11 10:18 am (UTC)(link)
Dy.

[from inside her coat, she retrieves and holds out a pair of kitchen knives; not identical, but obviously... well, knives. Of the paring variety, far left.]
souredsweet: mewtube (thin-skinned)

this entire thread is just kaoru mentally screaming

[personal profile] souredsweet 2013-10-11 10:20 am (UTC)(link)
[and Kaoru will lean just close enough to inspect the edge for wear. they already don't seem fit for the markings left on Dave, but just in case...]

Are most that you carry roughly this size?
mostlymarried: (ice queen)

I'M SORRY EXCEPT I'M NOT

[personal profile] mostlymarried 2013-10-11 10:27 am (UTC)(link)
[one of them has scratches and bits of wood shaving still stuck on them where it has been used as an impromptu chisel during the Chapel repairs, but otherwise they are clean]

I just carry these. If I need anything bigger I have the shovel anyway.

SMH.....

[personal profile] souredsweet 2013-10-11 10:37 am (UTC)(link)
[oh my goood-- well at least it isn't bits of brain or something.]

Thank you very much for answering, Miss Belarus. I believe those are the only questions that I have for now... I have also attempted to return everything in your room to the exact places in which they were found. Your compliance is most appreciated.
mostlymarried: (yup)

[personal profile] mostlymarried 2013-10-11 10:41 am (UTC)(link)
Dzjakuj; kali laska. Best of luck to you.
mostlymarried: (yup)

[personal profile] mostlymarried 2013-10-11 10:57 am (UTC)(link)
Wouldn't hiding it make you more suspicious? You worried me.

Sorry, I was hoping people wouldn't notice...

Latvija, this entire house is about noticing these things.

[personal profile] throe 2013-10-11 11:23 am (UTC)(link)
The only way it makes sense is if he was stabbed before being pushed then. Maybe the killer didn't intend for him to land on his front or his back, it just seemed to be however his body fell.

Still, they'd have to be pretty strong to hold an unconscious sixteen year old's body away from them so there wouldn't be any blood. Unless... they didn't have to hold the victim's body with their hands. [ She points to her own hair, signifying a certain someone's ability to capture their enemies. ]
throe: (mater suspiria vision)

[personal profile] throe 2013-10-11 11:24 am (UTC)(link)
You don't have to worry. I was once possessed by Harry Houdini, so I've handled things like this before!
throe: (†‡† (ritualz))

[personal profile] throe 2013-10-11 11:28 am (UTC)(link)
But, it's like you said, if the other ones haven't "decomposed" then why would it be weird if hers doesn't? It's a stage set up, there's only so much they can do to really make it look like a decomposing body like in the movies.
throe: (I††)

[personal profile] throe 2013-10-11 11:31 am (UTC)(link)
It would just be keeping up with appearances like they have with the previous murders. They used pigs blood last week, didn't they? Why not go the extra mile to make it more authentic like they have with everything else?
terriblesister: ((srs) ...)

[personal profile] terriblesister 2013-10-11 11:33 am (UTC)(link)
I-It's to... frame someone else, right? They have to get away with it in the trial too...

They were probably hoping we'd think it was one of the other people set up as Deadweights... [at least this clears Siren, at least in her mind...]
throe: (†‡† (ritualz))

[personal profile] throe 2013-10-11 11:39 am (UTC)(link)
You're right, it does seem like a long way to go to stab someone. It does make more sense that the stabbing is first and the pushing second though.
