In a manner of speaking. The seeds of this plant will provide far superior sustenance to my Dark Gods of Destruction than any of the meager offering of that accursed buffet.

...Very convenient that we have pumpkins growing in this house, then. I can't imagine who thought to include that particular little detail.

Are they in your room at the moment?

Of course not. They are in their home, that which they call their kingdom! Ahaha! Ahahahaha! Show yourselves!

[Right, suddenly hamsters everywhere, popping out of his scarf and his sleeves.]

Behold the glory of the Tanaka kingdom! I have made my body itself their sanctuary!

[Susan cannot claim to be surprised very often. Her expectations for the rest of mankind are much too low. When she is surprised, it is generally a mild sort of reaction amounting to a sort of 'oh how interesting' rather than a 'goodness I have gone into shock'.

At the hamster eruption, alas, she starts vigorously, nearly stumbling back a step into the wall.]

For goodness' sakes! They live in your clothing?! But that's -- I haven't -- It's been four days and I've seen you daily; I haven't noticed a thing! And -- of course, surely they must relieve themselves and what not this is all very impractical I did not see 'maintains self as a biome suitable for rodent habitation' in your listed skills.

Feh, do not underestimate them. They have been tamed in many incredible ways, including the art of housebreaking.

[He looks upon his four little hamsters with pride, who all seem to be posing.]

From whence I have came, I possess innumerable beasts, each with their own habitat. But these four, my merciless yet loyal familiars, have chosen to live by my side.

Strangely, that's the first time I've heard 'housebreaking' and 'art' in the same phrase.

[Susan looks at the adorable pudgy rodents with slight skepticism.]

I suppose intelligent animals aren't that surprising. I just never thought it would be hamsters. ...But what are they doing when you don't display them? Freezing in place for hours on end?

Do not suggest I would endeavor to make them mere lifeless trophies. They nest in my scarf and go where they please. But they are nocturnal beasts, so they are preoccupied by sleep during much of the day hours.

[He sounds a little offput by the suggestion, and one of the hamsters has already started sleeping again.]

[The urge to poke the sleeping one is high.]

It's still incredible that no one's ever accidentally squashed one.

[He will probably be even more offput by that.]

...Although I suppose you keep everyone at arm's length, anyway. They must live a blissful existence.

I would not allow such a thing. They are not to be held by those who have not earned the privilege, and anyway...

[He's not offended, as she's hit on the correct point. And...he seems very pleased by the comment about their existence.]

Ah, that is...

To them, who only live lives that last 1095 days...it is all I can do to ensure it.

Yes... For those who live such ephemeral lives... we owe that much to them. You could almost call it a responsibility.

[Susan seems to understand how Gundam feels.]

It's a shame we can't extend such feeling towards one another. I wonder if any of us are truly saddened today - we are shocked, appalled, disgusted... But then. We hardly knew her.

She was only sixteen.....
